Is that the day u pick up the car or when the car was built.

I bought the car new 6 months ago and my info screen is saying I'm due for my first service. I half way to the oil interval so does that mean the car was sitting for 6 months

Break in period service maybe?

It should be your break in service as mentioned above most likely. Never a full service interval. Usually only a thousand to a couple thousand miles on the car .
