I noticed the 7.5s have “Ready” on the tach..... some say it’s for the auto stop/start, but I’ve noticed some cars don’t have that feature and still have the ready on the tach. Was this way if Audi saving money instead of creating by a whole new design with out the “ready” on the tach?

I’m C7 so I don’t have that on the tach, but I always thought it was for when you cold start your car. The car idles above 1k rpm for like 30 seconds and then drops to “ready” when it’s... ready.
Like I said, I have a C7 gen, so I could be wrong

Which cars have "ready" on the tach, but don't have stop/start? Pics of the tach and the lack of stop/start button on the dash?

Not sure if you are talking about the start/stop light saying ready. A pic would be helpful. If you are, don't expect the thing to say ready when it is very cold outside and you have the heat on or defrost activated. The car draws a lot of current with heated seats and the like and the feature will never be ready.

Yes I believe the “Ready” on the tach is related to the start stop function. Indicates the engine is not currently running, hence 0 rpm however it is “Ready” and not actually turned off

I have an RS7 and don’t have stop/start features-

Take a look here and you’ll see “ready” below 1

Now that makes sense. Yes my car says ready to show that the car ignition is either completely off or in the ready state meaning if I take my foot off the brake with the car in gear, the engine will start.

In that case you might be right since the facelift 7's got stop/start with exception of the RS7 they may have just used the same gauge face.
Does anyone know if markets outside the US have stop/start on the C7.5 RS7? CAN or EU? That might be another reason...i.e. stop/start only disabled for US market RS7's.

I thought the "ready" script was for stop/start, but based on your RS7 example, I would probably suspect that the "ready" indicates when the ignition is on but the engine is not on. Hence, the engine is "ready" and on stand by but is not currently running. This makes sense, because when the ignition is on, the engine is technically ready to start. Usually the car will run the fuel pump and prime the engine for running when the ignition is tuned on. But id have to test this theory, idk if it is true or not. Just my suspicions.

For what it’s worth, page 78 of the owners manual (model year 2016) is the only mention of the Ready indicator I could find, in the chapter about start/stop

Guess that settles it then...
The stop/ start on the tech is to let you know whether the engine is "on and ready" or off.

His Tach is showing revs ... so, his engine IS running ... just an FYI

Not sure why you think I can't see the engine is running. The picture was sent to distinguish which "ready" we were discussing. There is a ready indicator that tells me if the car will stop the engine if I stop, nearby. So with the picture I realized we are talking about script on the tach, not the ready light for the stop start feature.

RS7 doesn't have start/stop.
Ready is for when start/stop is enabled
It's a carry over of the dash cluster labels from the A7/S7 that do have it.
