I’m looking into getting a tune from either one of these brands soon , most like will go straight to stage two SP but I have noticed at least as advertised on the websites the APR tunes in every stage seem to make more power . Is there a reason why this is and are they really faster m i know that you won’t get the exact numbers as advertised on every car but is there one tune that’s better than the others . With AR recently lowering the prices it really the reason why I’m looking into it now . I’m planning on going with a HX ,intake , and a melen tcu tune ( which I’ve heard makes a bug difference over cars without a tcu tune ) if any of those makes a difference. Just wondering what you guys think and what y’all run on your cars .

It’s more like IE vs 034 right now to be honest.

Currently running GIAC dual pulley. Will be going with JHM dual pulley, when released.
If I had to choose APR vs IE... Id go IE. Ive had APR on two platforms. Similar to my OTS GIAC, they leave a lot on the table.

Keep in mind the following:
034 only does in person tune. No remote flash. Don’t send cables out etc No timetable for doing so, per the last I asked them.
IE has been saying for months that they’re just about to release a remote flash setup for their CREC tune. Still not out. No idea when it will be.
I waited for a while to see, but I have since given up and am going to get an APR tune in the next few weeks once I scheduled a day to leave it at the shop. Should be fine for my purposes.

Forgot to add—The above is moot if you have a pre-CREC motor. IE has a remote flash setup.

CREC is a different world. CREC here, I went APR.

I have not driven an IE or 034 car. From what I've read, APR is probably the most conservative. IE is the most frequently updated. 034 and a few other "smaller" companies tend to be the most aggressive, not necessary unreliable, just more aggressive. I went with APR because the car is my daily and the last thing I wanted to do was put a lot more stress on an aging German daily. If it was my second car then I would've went with a more aggressive tune and probably went beyond stage 1.
I cant say much about the other companies because my experience with them is limited, but what I will say about APR is that I have driven 4 APR tuned cars and they were all excellent (GTI, A6, S3, and A7).
I have friends running a sorts of various states of APR software (ones running 93 stage 2 high torque S3 with TCU and crackle, one is 91 stage 1 with TCU A3, another is running 93 stage 1 A7, etc), and I've heard nothing but praise for APR. All of them have had great experiences.
Personally, I love my tune, besides the significant drop in fuel economy when doing any acceleration.

Any reason why don’t include EPL as option too? Doing the same research myself for my CREC.

I can echo this. If you are CREC you shouldn’t hesitate to use APR, especially at their new lower prices. I’m ecstatic with the tune and performance of the car. It’s amazing to me that it can run consistent 11.5x’s, cutting 3.4 second 0-60s, at the same time as being capable of getting 30+ mpg on my daily commute and get me where I’m going in luxury and style. When the other companies finally release their CREC tunes, I highly doubt there will be a significant difference.

Yeah crec vs non-crec is critical info here as there are drastically different options between the two. I would have gone IE if it were available for my crec engine, I actually waited it out from about June when I decided I wanted to tune the car and finally gave up waiting about a month ago and went apr stage 2. My only complaint with apr is the lack of flash at home capability but in reality I’m not looking to play around with octane, ethanol etc. as 99% of my driving is a short, boring commute where people drive around at 10 under the speed limit and stop at yellow lights. I was really just looking for a bit more power for when I find myself at the font of the line at a red light or the occasional highway drive.
I see a lot of hate on apr for some reason but I think that all the tunes are fairly close in the real world. What I like about apr is their focus on oem-like drivability and reliability. There are many vw/audi/Porsche dealers that are also apr dealers (including my local vw dealer) which at least tells me they’re willing to stand behind them. Are they leaving a little bit of power on the table? Possibly, but as with most things in motor sports there is a trade off between performance and reliability.
TLDR; very happy with my apr tune, no regrets at all. If IE happened to have a crec tune then that is probably what I would have but I’m not sure I’d be any happier with it vs apr.

Do we have any other options yet for the CREC engine? Keep hearing about IE but no updates.

As far as I know, for CREC we have EPL, APR and if you happen to live in SoCal you can go to 034's shop for their tune. Believe that is it at the moment.

I have REVO on my 2018 A7,and they only offer stage 1. I installed the CTS smaller SC pulley and it is working fine with the stage 1. Car really boogies and is fast for a big boat.

I’m honestly just most familiar with apr and IE , I know there are some smaller companies that tend to be more aggressive but I thought going with a bigger company as more people have experience with them . Not to familiar with EPL do you know if it’s any good

I see that your achieving those numbers as DP I was thinking just doing SP because of the possible cat problem and I really didn’t want to mess with the exhaust, have you had any such issues

I’m pretty sure unitronic has crec tunes as well, they’re a large Canadian company

I haven’t had any issues but I really don’t beat on the car that much. I’m planning on test pipes along with catted downpipes sometime in the near future.

CREC is the engine code. MY2016-2018 use a revised 3.0t engine and ECU. Unfortunately few companies have come out with a tune for CREC owners.

If you have a CREC 3.0 your supercharger pulley will have four bolts holding it on which are plainly visible from the front of the engine. The first generation 3.0 uses a pressed on pulley hence no bolts.

If your car is a 2016 model year or newer you have the CREC engine. If you car is 2012-2015 you do not have the CREC engine. There are currently only a few options for CREC cars. Pre-2016 (non-CREC) cars have more options.

I was at a dyno day today and put 33whp more than a friends IE stage 2 DP s4 with near identical mods to my APR stage 2 dp c7.5 a6. He was 6wtq more than me though

I have a CREC as well. Before I realized that I bought IE's Stage 1 on their 2019 black Friday sale. They told me then they were working on the CREC tune. A couple weeks of back and forth emails, they finally say that they didn't have the tune ready yet. I emailed them every few months because they kept telling me "soon" but still nothing from the last time I checked. It's been over a year since they said "soon" the first time.
I got tired of waiting and went APR once I saw they dropped their prices and had the tune available. The tune is AWESOME and there is a ton more power even on stage 1 with no other mods. I came from a Stage 2+ GTI with GIAC so my stock A6 seemed a bit slower but with the tune its ridiculous how fast it is now.
You won't be disappointed with APR.
