Hi all.

Does anyone know if the steering wheel combination switches (turn signal, cruise, wipers) are VIN specific? My blinker stalk is broken (press up to go right and it blinks left! [o_o]) and I want to replace the switch unit with one from a salvage car (1/5th the cost part wise), but I am not sure if they are locked to only one VIN. For clarity, here is the part I am talking about: https://parts.audiusa.com/p/48796573/4G8953502A4PK.html

Further, has anyone disassembled one of those assemblies to take off just the turn signal stalk? If it is VIN locked then I may be able to just take only the one stalk off and put that into the malfunctioning unit.

Greatly appreciate any help or other ideas [:D]

Encase anyone stumbles upon this in the future, I was able to fix the switch without the need of any new parts. There is a circuit board with little wire fingers that move across it to signal the blinker. Mine were covered in black dust (probably from wear). I cleaned the circuit board and fingers with isopropyl alcohol and it works perfectly now.

They are not specific. The switches are all part of an assembly. All you have to do is transfer the clock spring (the clear part in the middle) from the old stack to the new part.

Thanks for the reply Nully. I was able to get it fixed with no new parts needed. Before taking it down I had not realized the steering angle sensor separated so easily from the switch body.
