I have an Audi RNS-E Navi-Plus head unit retrofitted to my 2001.5 B5 S4. Everything is working well but the GPS antenna reception is very poor. I have a Kufatec "puck" style GPS antenna mounted behind the instrument cluster on the dashboard support bracket, but the RNS-E's Info screen shows only from 0 to 2 usable satellites received. This causes the RNS-E to become confused as to its actual location.

Is there a better, amplified antenna available that's compatible with the RNS-E? Or perhaps a powered GPS signal booster that I could install? I noticed that some VW/Audi models come stock with onboard GPS antenna amplifiers, maybe one of those could be installed in my B5? If so which unit is best?

Any experienced BTDT or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Problem solved. I moved the puck antenna from behind the instrument cluster to above the glove box, and now I'm getting at worse 4 receivable satellites, and have seen as many as 8!
