Install seemed past my level of expertise so I had my mechanic do it and I assume it's either not installed right or it's defective. It sits on 1 at idle, never goes below 0, and seems to consistently hang around 5 when driving, highest number I saw is 8 but I'm stage 1 JHM with a couple other small additions. This is my first experience with a boost gauge so I'm not sure exactly how it should behave. The number only climbs after I let off the gas, not under throttle. I know something has to be wrong. This is a prosport Evo digital gauge.

Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

Can you take any pictures of the install? Both wires and boost hose. I have the same gauge. To be clear the gauge does change numbers? I ask because if it were just stuck on 1 that would indicate it’s reading ambient air pressure

From the little I have read it should show negative numbers at times to indicate vacuum but I haven't seen that once. I hadn't looked at it real close but seeing as there were instructions I thought it would be a breeze. Not aware of how useless those instructions were other than for the lighting which I had to redo for the red lighting. I assumed that would be controlled by an external button or knob.. 202976

It should indeed read negative at idle, around -22. Plus or minus a few. I’m going to go ahead and guess that the boost tap you have pictured is no good. The two bigger hoses should be pushed farther onto the t fitting’s barbs.

It also looks like the smaller hose is on the inside of the T fitting, if I am seeing that right and the small hose is inside the fitting then that won’t work, and is likely the issue. AFAIK no hose fittings work internally like that

Also can you take a zoomed out picture of the install showing where on the engine it is?

You wanna get a decent boost tap for the intake manifold, best spot. And don't buy the cheap ones, with those little set screws. Seen them destroy cylinders when one gets sucked in. Get one like this.202981

That’s it 100%. You don’t tap in a boost gauge at your turbo. That’s the reason you have no vacuum info. There isn’t any vacuum at the turbo. I hope you didn’t pay serious money to install that. You would think your mechanic would be ashamed of himself letting you take it home with it clearly not working.

You can buy a boost tap kit to tie it into the PCV hose or buy a boost gauge kit specific for this car and use the blank port on the intake manifold as your boost/vacuum source.

Then this will push into the intake, where your PCV hose connects. Then turn it to lock it in. It will be tight, but thats good. Good seal. Little oil on the o-ring will help with install. Then just connect you gauge hose to the nipple, connect your PCV hose to it, and your good. It'll look something like this. I just used the little T that comes with the gauge, thats why its connected like that. Think the little pill inside helps with "buzz".203031

Him hooking a boost gauge to the boost source line with no vacuum and letting you take it home like that is very telling about his abilities. You might want to reconsider giving him more money in the future.

Anybody know the part number for that hose I'm replacing? Or name?
