This is my kids car. I am trying to figure out if this 2008 Quattro S Line has sport suspension.
He is away at school now and I know it has dark red monroe shocks. It sits pretty low too, but I don't know how else to tell?
New to Audi's but learning fast.

It's not an s-line. It's a special edition. If sport suspension was ordered separately, you'll have a three spoke steering wheel.

It says S line but I understand that all "08 Quattros were S line. It has a 4 spoke wheel. Why special edition and why the red shocks?

All 08s had the s-line body work, and an s-line grille badge, but were not "s-line". You don't have the s-line door badges or wheels. That is a give away. S-line cars all came with badged door sills and steering wheels as well, plus brushed aluminum trim in lieu of fish scale.
If sport suspension was ordered separately, you will have a three spoke steering wheel with no s-line badge. If you have red shocks, it is possible, in the long life of this car, someone put on s-line shocks. However, ride height is determined by the springs. With the shadows, it is impossible for me to tell if this is at base or sport ride height.

Yeah, only in 2008. It replaced the base model. They didn't sell an A4 in the US without the s-line bumper/blades in 2008.

Again, an even easier indicator is the steering wheel. Does it have three spokes? Car was ordered with sport suspension.

is that only for tiptronic cars that the steering wheel is different? all 3 of my b7 came without sport suspension but two had a 3 spoke wheel and the third had a 4 spoke but is tiptronic.

What do you mean by "3 spokes"? I thought all B7's had the 4-spoke steering wheel (2 spokes at 9oclock and 3 oclock and 2 at the bottom at 5oclock and 7 oclock). I've yet to see a 3-spoke steering wheel on a B7. Only ever seen 3 spoke on the B6... Maybe I'm not following here... lol.

I guess you haven't seen any B7's with sport suspension, s-line package, or an S4 or an RS4.

You know, now that you mention it, I don't know. It's possible all 6MT cars came with three spoke wheels. 4 spoke may have been tip only without sport suspension or s-line.

After seeing a pic of what you were talking about I totally got the B6 steering wheel design stuck in my head... lmao. My bad! I haven't really been paying attention to the steering wheels on B7's that much.
THIS is the design I was talking about with the B6, with the circle silver trim around the audi rings. You won't see THIS wheel on a B7:

Can confirm this may be the case since I have a 4 spoke wheel with a TIP non-sline WITH the sport suspension package.

I was told many moons ago that 3 spoke wheels without badges meant sport suspension. That may indeed be wrong. I have never seen one a tip car, so that makes sense. TIL.

Not in NA anyway, but who knows across the pond. Those weirdos are driving around all kinds of whacked out B7s...RHD cars with 1.8Ts and shit, to say nothing of the multiple diesels available.

Yeah they definitely had a lot more configurable options for Audi's homeland for sure, my uncle drives a manual TDI B7 A4 Avant out there in switzerland, very cool car to say the least but I don't understand it. Everything seemed kinda different for whatever reason.

My wife’s 2006 base model sedan has a 3 spoke steering wheel and standard suspension. The steering wheel isn’t necessarily an indication of having the sport suspension.
These 3 things will tell you if you have the sport suspension.
Do you have a front strut stabilizer bar in front of your battery?
Are your shocks red?
If yes, you have factory sport suspension.
Can you stick your whole fist between the tire and fender? If yes, you don’t have the sport suspension.

Red shocks is a dead giveaway it’s a sport suspension. No sane person would swap sport shocks and springs in, so that’s very unlikely (though possible)

I think we have cracked the three spoke wheel code.

3-spoke wheel also differs by year though. I am pretty sure my 2006 Avant Tiptronic non-sport, non-s-line had a 3 spoke wheel.
I guess what I’m leaning towards is that the type of steering wheel isn’t a valid indicator of s-line or sport suspension. Red shocks likely are (unless a weirdo previous owner swapped them in) but frankly the real indicator is the strut bar as that’s not something you can swap in as the mounting provisions aren’t there in non-sport cars. It’s also really easy to spot.
The 2008 SE package is a tedious wildcard but not that hard to work around to know what your car has.
You can also find the option sticker and find the 1be code on it which I think indicates Sport suspension.

Don’t forget about the infamous “just because” clause Audi has for random options when it comes to the steering wheel.
