Hello All,

I was wondering if I could get some help on whether this issue is something I can ignore or I should take to dealership to have them look at it. Twice now its happened where if I come to a full stop at a light, the car turns off and won't turn back on. Both times, I had manually pushed the Auto start/stop feature to have it turned off. Both times I was driving in Comfort mode.

After I come to a full stop, car turns off.

1st time: It had a auto start/stop malfunction, please start car manually. I put the car in Park, restarted, and after pushing the button twice, it finally started and it was fine.

2nd time: No message, just turned off. Then tried to start but would not start. After a few tries, it gave the message that the key fob malfunction or wrong key detected etc. Held the key to the dash to start it and it was ok.

I'm wondering if this is an issue because I'm pushing the Auto Start/Stop button as soon as I turn the car on and it doesn't have time to "load" if there is such a thing. If its tied to anything else? Maybe the key fob battery? I changed it less than 6 months ago; unsure if I need to change. If this is something that can be fixed w/o a dealer visit, it'd be wonderful because I'm scared of the cost.

I also have a ECU/TCU tune... not sure if these would impact anything.

Thank you for any help.

find someone with vcds or obd11 and disable it or set to remember last setting so you can stop hitting that button.

would this be because of a low key fob battery?

battery too weak to be detected, therefor car wont re-start?

my car doesnt have auto start/stop, so im not completely familiar with how the system works, but being that you held the key up to the transponder and it solved the problem, this is a $5 fix worth trying

This suggestion may work; and, it’s really simple. Moreover, it’s enjoyable. I Updated my auto stop/start with Carista (same idea as OBD11, if a little more generic) and like it. I generally leave the function off for suburban driving, but if in a dense city (Chicago) I switch it on to limit pollution. I feels it’s less needed way out in the burbs (could be wrong) but I hate that functionality.. battery in key fob, as noted above, is also with a try for a few dollars..

Good luck!

How does this work? or how do I find someone w/ it? Can I buy it and do this?

Thank you. Yeah I will try to find someone as suggested by Audisthesia. I'm also going to change the battery on the fob.

Well, I switch mine off to limit irritation. I already gave up my 4.2 for the 3.0. There. My pollution limiting deed for the decade. Plus The tune gets better gas mileage so the planet owes me one.
