View Full Version : My car earned some street cred... hit by a stray bullet.

Right in the goddamn A-pillar. No glass damage, part of the slug was stopped by the steel, the rest sheared and vanished. Still working out exactly when it happened, but it happened at my work place and apparently only my car was hit. Figures.

So how does this go down for the body shop? How do you repair this other than filler? Will they have to remove my windshield? Can it be reused or will it have to be replaced? I have stellar insurance, I'm not worried about getting it repaired, I'm more just curious about how it will be done.

No fault lights or issues inside, hell you can't even see it from the driver's seat or when you approach on that side. Probably why I didn't notice it right away.

(Sorry the pics didn't rotate, I guess that data didn't carry over. Dumb.)

Who fires only one shot in Compton? When I look at the list of the the OP's previous cars, it doesn't look like he has the best luck with them as some met a horrible fate.

Profile says he lives in Mormon country. Those Mormons are tough.

Good luck, if it went through the A pillar car may be totaled. My S7 had some damage from Hurricane Sally and they claimed the A Pillar was bent and that they would have to cut it out and weld a new one in place and that would cost too much.

A pillar bullet, crap luck for sure. But they will remove the trim, shouldn't have to remove the windshield but ya never know. Some filler, paint and blend and good as new. The one good thing is where it's located they shouldn't have to blend that much and won't be noticeable.

I live and work in SLC, Utah. My work is right next to a major interstate anyway, so it's anyone's guess who did what. The A-pillar stopped whatever that soft metal is. The body shop said it won't be an issue to repair, won't even have to remove the glass.

I work in media, so you know how that goes with people getting carried away. A couple other cars and a building window have damage too.

A little time with some bondo and touch-up paint. It will be as good as new....[:)]

That is not as bad as a big door ding or a bumper hit.
