View Full Version : Wheel Alignment
Local Firestone shop has a wheel alignment special for
$97.00 or lifetime $179.
Does these Audi S7, need any special attention when doing a 4 wheel alignment?
Firestone and Audi IDK.

Firestone didn’t want to touch my car recently after getting new tires installed (Firestone Indy 500). And not that I would trust them with a “performance” alignment anyway. I’d look for a specialized shop IMO who only does alignments. I paid $100 for mine.
If in the Chicagoland area, Thalmann Alignments is the place to go.

A while ago I went to get a budget alignment done on a B5 A4 at Brakes Plus.
They were able to check the alignment, but were not able to make any adjustments. They mentioned that to adjust the front alignment, the front subframe /engine cradle had to be adjusted too, and that work was way beyond the ~ $100 service.
I'm not sure how similar and old A4 is to a newer S7, but I imagine Audi wouldn't change to make things any easier.
As eurospek suggested, your best bet would be to take it to a specialty shop for a proper alignment. In my experience, expect to pay at least $150.

Looking at my records, my A7 has not been aligned since 115,000 miles. I am now at 205,000 miles but there is no indication of any problems with alignment. Tires are at 60,000 and the wear pattern is damn near perfect.
Eventually I will get it in to at least get checked but not any time soon.

i have had my rs7 aligned 2x in 30k miles.
dealer did it once because it was out of spec, after hitting a pothole and damaging a wheel. $200.
i asked for them to do it while in dynamic (lower). they told me there is a special way they do it, and im guessing the "book" tells them what mode to have the car in.
the second time was at a reputable shop, who did it at my request since i was getting new tires and wanted the alignment done while set to dynamic. $180.
they had no issues doing it and got it back into spec when in dynamic.
prior to the alignment, the car was in spec in comfort, but out of spec in dynamic. they showed me all 3 printouts: comfort and dynamic prior to alignment, and dynamic after alignment.
This is good info.
Alignments and modes.
I think Ima just hit audi up for the $160. W.A.
I did repaiired 3 bent wheels and now just recently got new tires.

I’ve used Firestone Lifetime Alignment on my S6 and prior cars. Great deal. In theory, you could mess something up that requires camera realignment I’m told.
Going Firestone route next week for the Alignment. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200930/5217749428c9c6a7ba9d8187e8650238.jpg

That!! If you have ACC there is a risk.

the ACC/alignment issue is usually only a problem if the alignment is way out of spec to start with. And typically it should only out of spec that far because of an incident (bad pothole/accident/hit curb) or major suspension component replacement. There is a good chance that any of these circumstances could cause a ACC error as well.
When i had my alignment done in dynamic mode, the shop started telling me how it shouldn't be done that because of ACC....luckily i don't have ACC and we moved on from the topic.
If I had ACC option, i still would have gotten the alignment. if the car came back with ACC error after alignment, i would schedule a visit to the dealer for ACC calibration only.
Point is, dont let a shop or dealer charge you a flat rate for alignment including ACC calibration since it may not be necessary.

Yeah, I've definitely done the Firestone alignment lots without any issue, but I wanted to make people aware of that possibility because the dealer said it could be a problem. Whenever my car goes into the dealer, they run an alignment check anyway…just don't fix anything if it's off.

A note for anyone getting an alignment from non-dealer shops: make sure they use the correct specs for your car/options. Tire shop thought my car was out of spec, but i found they were using a standard A6 spec, not the sport suspension spec.
All specs for all trims/options are listed in the repair manual. I can share if anyone needs it.

I'd love to see it for a 14 S6 if you could share! Thanks!

I called a bunch of shops and even a reputable Audi tuner, no one was willing to touch it. Had to go the the dealer and 3 months later, need another alignment. Work order even said couldn’t finish, test drove and it was OK.
