Hello guys, i swapped successfully a brand new RS4 Cluster to my A4 B7 1.8T.
Everything is working fine.... ..... but not the Oiltemp..
It always says ---°C....
Anyone know how to fix it? I read that someone got it to work.. But I don't know how.. Maybe anyone here knows more? Someone said replace it with the RS4 Oiltemp sensor!? The other says it doesn't work with it too..

Please help
Best regards
Nico

I don't know about your wacky one-off B7 1.8T, but I do know that NA B7 A4s would show the oil temp natively. You didn't need to do anything.

It should display the oiltemp after the swap?
It doesn't..

It says ---°C and display yellow error oilmaxRight. I Installed an rs4 cluster in my 2008 and the oil temp displayed fine. But, again, I didn't have a wonky euro only 1.8t in my b7.

Did you enable 'lap timer" with vcds?

Lap timer is already activated. What you mean with wonky euro?

Can you explain it more? What that mean?

Maybe it don't work on 1.8t because of old ecu generation?
1,6 2,0 1,8T 4,2 usw. = old ECU gen
2,0 TFSI 3,2FSI 4,2FSI = new ECU gen

NicoHe means we don't have 1.8t b7's in US.

oh ok. Maybe its because of the new and old ecu version? Any idea what i can try to get it work?

I was just being a smart ass but if you multiply the deg celsius by 1.8 then add 32 you'll have your deg ferenheight.
If it says 30c, for example, use the formula to get your deg F: 1.8(30) + 32 = 86 degF

My guess is, the pool of ppl with b7 1.8ts that did an RS4 cluster swap is pretty small. But, considering the ecu is similar to the b6 with 1.8t, you might have better luck finding help on that forum? Just a guess. I am sure there are ppl who have made this conversion work.
Out of curiosity, do you know if your car has immo 3 or 4?

My car has immo3 and the rs4 cluster has immo4
And its not similar to b6 I think, because you cannot swap rs4 to b6 because of RB4 and RB8?

RB4 clusters were immo 3, i believe, which is what B6's had. Your car is more similar to a B6 than a B7, in terms of ECU, etc., bc of the 1.8T.
I am no B6 or 1.8T expert, but I do know that some of the 1.8Ts (AEB?) had an seperate oil level/temp sensor. The 2.0T has a sensor with both functions in the oil pan. Those 1.8Ts had their level sensor in the pan and a temp sensor near the oil filter housing. It is possible your cluster can't read that second sensor, and is only getting level data from the one on the pan.

Next week I will install the oil temp/level sensor 06E 907 660
Maybe it work then

Like I said, try talking to the B6 guys. I am sure someone over there has worked this out. My guess is that an RB8 cluster from a B7 is looking for that data someplace the ecu is not providing it.
