Notice starts doing it today, when I. M in idle, it starts making some high pitch whining noise, like a supercharger, definitely never heard that before, I didn't get any faulty code and the car still drives normal, what should I check, is it like sign something might break or not normal?

Does taking the oil cap off so the noise? If it does it's the PCV

Edit: should say "stop"

Probably PCV. In North America there is an extended warranty on the PCV system where Audi will fix it provided you are under 80,000 miles I believe. If the engine is tuned then Audi will probably flag it and deny the warranty repair.

+1 for PCV. Just dealt with this on the family A8 4.0T and thankfully it was covered as it's a known issue.

Hi is it big job to replace the pcv? Can I do my oil screening at same time if it's the same place?

Yes its a big job. Expect 8-11hrs of labor at a shop.
Around $2000 including parts. Closer to $2500 at a dealer.
Yes do the oil screen at the same time. Id recommend removing it rather than replace.

Hi oil cap off I still hear the noise, it's always from standing still just off idle, very high pitch noise, I will get it checked Monday asap, could low power steering fluid cause that also? Maybe a belt too.

Hi can I still have a faulty pcv even there is no code on dash?

The noise seem starts off idle, when the rev is up it go away, every time starts from 500 rpm.

The noise seem very high pitch, almostike a super charger whining.

I will take it to a work shop get it checked Monday. Do they need scan or simple by test drive?

As has already been stated by others, definitely sounds like the PCV valve, and yes, even though you're getting the high pitched squeal you may not have any error codes showing on your dash.

Thanks, do you know what is it required for work shop to check for pcv valve?

Can I keep driving for a while or does it need get changed asap.

I. M covered under insurance so I don't need to pay, is it a good time to change the oil screening and value at same time? Same time on labour.

Might also repaint my bumper since they have to be taken off anyway, I got a broken clip

If the shop does not know how to check a PCV valve...... find a new shop.

Hi sir I found it is the pcv valve, I. M gonna change it, do you recommend remove the oil strainer or change to the latest g version?

Do I need change my oil more often if I run without a strainer? Do I need to replace my turbo line at the same time?

I installed the jhm screen relocation kit.
If I had to do it again. Id just remove the screen completelty (no relocation kit).

Fyi, there is a factory warranty extension in the US for the pcv. Not sure if it applies or there is an equivalent for your country.

I would get the oil strainer issue resolved at the same time as it's located right near the PCV on the 4.0TT. If it was my car, I think I'd be pretty tempted just to do away with the strainer all together.

My mechanical insurance will not cover unless they throw faulty code, do worn pcv valve can be scanned?

My insurance would take months to get approved, can I continue drive with a bad pcv valve?

Hi sir my insurance company would take month to fix it, I got an 6 hour road trip coming up, is it OK to drive with an worn pcv valve, like what's the worst could happen, or it's not worth risk it, I might just borrow my dad's boring subaru instead

just want to make sure you understand....Audi corporate has issued a extended warranty, free of charge, specifically for the PCV; in the US. They may have some sort of equal warranty in NZ. If this is the case, it should not go through your insurance.
https://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/858342-4-0TT-Limited-Warranty-Extension-PCV

besides the obnoxious sound it makes, it is OK to drive with the bad PVC. you may notice a little more oil consumption. a 6hr road trip should not use anywhere near enough oil to give a concern, just top up the oil level before you go.

Cause I don't think my mechanic knows what his doing, sadly audi in my country will not cover it, my insurance company takes month to get it approved.

I do notice getting rough idle from the lights now, still no faulty code yet.

Seems you may need a better mechanic. Its one thing to not know what it is, but for your mechanic to not have the resources to look up vehicle specific information....id be hesitant to go there. Last thing I want to hear from my mechanic when I ask for a repair is..."how do you do that?"

Anyway, here is the how to link

https://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/789909-HOW-TO-Oil-Separator-R-amp-R

Parts list are in post 1 for pcv. Screen parts are in post 40. Some may be duplicated.
the most important parts beyond the ones listed in post 1 are:
079103175C Check valve 1
079115175G Oil strainer 1
079103161Q Cover Gasket 1

depending on mileage, you may also want to replace the oil and coolant line O-rings. you do not need to replace the lines.

If I remember his threads correctly his engine is tuned so Audi will probably flag him if they hook it up to the motherland scanner.

I don't belive there are any aftermarket options for those. Go to any local audi dealer or search the classifieds.
Since your in NZ, I don't think finding / linking US dealers would help.
