Hey. I was just curious as I ve seen the B7 A4s have sorta weak power steering as it recommneds not to keep steering wheel in full lock for extended periods. How can I do a donut without damaging the power steering pump as i have already by trying to do a donut. Thx.

Do your stupid donut in the other direction for a minute instead?

What do I win?

When you say donut, I imagine this:

I'm also assuming you have AWD. FWD please just don't bother. Totally gonna be blunt with you here...

1. This isn't an Audi issue, this is a burnout car issue. Delete your power steering if you're worried about it, it'll help save weight in the front lol.

2. If you don't wanna delete your power steering cause it's your daily well then you probably shouldn't be doing donuts in it in the first place.

3. Unless you've got some really slick tires and 300-400hp in the front you're not gonna be doing donuts on a solid surface anytime soon.

Or just forget all this and buy a BMW.

Nah. He’s talking about doing snow donuts in the Best Buy parking lot.

Maybe it was a savage post. I’m just saying what a lot of guys are probably thinking. Can’t help myself. Sorry. [emoji3]

I don’t know man, if his profile is accurate about being from San Antonio, he’s gonna be waiting a long time to try snow donuts lol

Then he’s going to be disappointed for sure.

It’s a stupid post no matter where he’s from.

It’s more fun driving sideways in snow anyway. [emoji16]

With OEM power ,. the only donut you can do, is on snow, on rain @ higher speed and on dry @ higher speed.

a member already post a video doing a 180 (or 360 cant recall) on dry road. It was scary, but doable.

Also EA, just because it was a savage post doesn't mean it wasn't funny as hell [emoji23]

The thought of any b7a4 doing donuts on dry pavement is pretty hysterical, to be honest.

And frankly if you’re making enough power to do that, blowing your power steering pump by being a dumbass is the least of your worries...

The OP should try to find 4 donut spares that fit. Might be able to rip a donut then.

OP, your time has come. Put 4 small-width spare donuts on your car and try this. If you post a video of your car successfully doing 3 360º donuts at once I'll send you a piston and rod from my old engine in the mail for free.

The stakes have been raised

I'll add in a wrecked intake cam to the pot. Maybe one of EPY's custom plated cam followers, if I'm duly impressed by the video. This is going to get spicy!

This thread brings up a good point, imo. Should there be a thread topic that triggers the shutdown of AZ? A question so irredeemably stupid that there is simply no point in carrying on any further? This isn't that question, but it's close. What do you guys think that trigger topic should be?

EvolutionArmory

That’s a tough one. I mean, there’s already a whole thread just for stupid questions. Maybe the AZ killing question was already asked and we survived it already. Maybe we’re tougher than we think.

"Where is the engine on an Audi" (exclude the R8) is a big one too. Makes me facepalm thinking about it.

I saw a “life hack” not too long ago explaining what the little triangle on the gas gauge was for.

Millennials. smh

...but where does one look to for donuts to come out from because I'm feeling hungry and want to do some donuts too.. Screw Winchell's.

Jeez, you guys are pretty brutal, and to a new member no less. Stop it!

Ok OP, here is what you need to know:
This is the only way to reverse the damage you might have done to the power steering system following the donut maneuver. Read and execute this carefully as there is only one chance on getting it right.
-Find yourself a remote uphill stretch of road
-With the car facing uphill at a complete stop put the tranny in reverse
-Foot off the brake floor the gas pedal
-At redline (and this is the hard part) pull on the parking brake as hard as humanly possible and simultaneously
throw the steering wheel in the opposite direction from that which you normally do donuts
-foot off gas and allow car to come to a complete stop
-problem solved, good as new!
