So I’m looking to replace the headliner on my S6 and from what I’ve researched, I know the windscreen needs to come off and that’s about it. Is there an alcantara headliner I can buy? I saw that some people had this as a factory option. Or am I better off wrapping everything myself?

You're most likely better off wrapping everything yourself or have an upholstery shop do the work. You may be able to purchase the OEM alcantara headliner from the dealer, but at what cost?

What options on your car? Taking windshield off can be costly depending...

I got lucky and bought mine from a shop in Chicago that had a 2016 RS7 with 18k on the clock that the insurance company totaled. They wanted 2k for all 14 pieces that were in excellent condition. They wanted 1k to ship it to me in Minneapolis. I told the seller, I can be in Chicago in 6 hours with cash in hand, I rented a cargo van and made it happen.

I love it, but if I had the black headliner, I'd have been satisfied. You really don't notice it, unless you're looking for it. Would I do it again? Maybe, maybe not.

The windshield did have to come out, it will not fit out the hatchback. I think the labor was around 800. at the dealer.

I spoke with a shop that does reupholstery job for high end cars and he told he can do I without removing the windshield. He told me it will have a crease that will about a month to disappear. He said he has done a few A6. I will be taking my car to him in month or two.

Does he have pictures of his work?

I didn’t ask but he came recommended by the Audi dealer where I take my car. He does work for the dealer.
