Hiya! With the RS now becoming the oldest car in my garage by quite some margin and a TT with the great B&O system joining the party, I was wondering what my options are for upgrading the sound system in the RS4. I certainly don't consider myself an audiophile but I like to think I'm pretty capable of noticing a higher quality sound system. I've heard that even a fresh set of Bose Speakers that come with the car can be tinny so are there options, specifically for the cab since it has a different speaker layout, that give a more modern and quality sound that will fit in my car. I'm using the original RNS-E headunit with a Dension GWP1 to connect my phone via bluetooth. Thanks!

Im not sure all the differences in the cab, but in my RS4 sedan I upgraded the head unit and added a sub and it's like night and day. The upgraded head unit sends a better signal to the amplifier and to me sounds a ton better. I had added a sub separately previous to that and I'm glad I did. I think its totally transformed the sound. I've been on the fence with changing speakers or not. The bose system uses a different impedance than most aftermarket systems so just be aware of that. They are a 2 ohm speaker vs the more common 4 ohm. I'm not sure if you will get good results with just replacement speakers or if the amp needs to be replaced also.

For me, the head unit and sub really transformed the sound.

A speaker change can make a big difference if the old ones are garbage.

I have a B6. I did a head unit, which helped some, then replaced the amp and the sub. I have an Xtrons head unit, Skar 900w 5 channel amp and 2 Skar 6.5" subs in a sealed enclosure. It sounds fantastic but I do need to do the door speakers. Got one that is dying.

As for just door speakers, remember that you have tweeters too and the factory mids with the crossover built in.

I've had good results with Skar speakers for budget stuff. Maybe audio dynamic if you want to spend some cash.
