my friend has a 2.0 jetta and was wondering if he could take the 1.8t jetta and swap the manifold/turbo etc...are they the same? or are the 2 engines totally diff?

what he needs is a vin number swap.

Are you talking just the exhaust mani and turbo? Or are you talking taking the 1.8T head off and put it on a 2.0 block? The later can be done, but I do believe it's not a direct swap. I think you have to have aftermarket pistions.

Why would you have a 2.0 jetta?

he wants to take my old k03 and intercooler and turbo his 2.0 if that makes sense. So is it he just needs a diff manifold and some other stuff to get it going?

your friend needs to do a lot of research before he thinks about turbo'ing his 2.0l

Turbocharging a 2.0 is a bad idea. A friend had tried this, he spent alot on a turbo kit from ATP and getting it dyno tuned..... A few weeks later a rod started knocking real bad. And it didn't even make any good power. He had an exhaust, intake, turbo kit w/ injectors, FP, and FMIC etc... My slow ass chipped 1.8tq a4 still handily beat him. If he wants a turbo tell him to swap in a 1.8. Too easy.

He'd probably have an easier time swapping the engine than trying to pirate parts.
