View Full Version : Wanted: Sprint Blue or Rarer Color RS4 B7

Greetings AZ Members,
I'm motivated to purchase a higher-mileage Audi RS4 preferred in Sprint Blue or a rarer color, TI package isn't necessary or any other additions. My budget is between $14K and $19K and don't have much flexibility from there. A clean title and no major accidents would be a welcome bonus. Although I do have an odd aversion to NY and NJ cars [;)] I would be willing to travel from Detroit elsewhere. I've found one from a dealer in Indiana but it has a rap sheet as long as a career criminal and they haven't budged on their price for a very, very long time. There's a good feeling about asking in this trusted close community for possible leads and perhaps a sold car in the end.
Your help is more than appreciated, Thank You.

As you already said, stay far, far away from that one in IN.....used to be local to me, thing is trashed.

So you're saying the only thing decent about it is the color? [>_<] Thank you for validating my impression of it. A shame, really.

Be aware if only spending about $14k to $19k you’re likely to incur about $12k of maintenance. Bc you’ll have axels, control arms, DRC, carbon cleaning, injectors, ignitors, belts, hoses, brake rotors and pads to change out. Might need to change the clutch too. The reason why people are selling for that cheap because a lot of those things have been neglected and needs to be replaced to fully appreciate these cars. Any work halfway done will not do it these cars justice.
And I haven’t mentioned body pieces that need replaced like door blades, bumpers repainted, color corrected, ceramic coated, and xpel.

Totally understood, and thank you for adding to the preparedness of what to expect. It looks like you have been there a couple of times so I appreciate your experiences. Coming from a design background (and working for a competitor), I have a fond appreciation of these masterpieces of form, shape, and proportion. Perhaps weird to some, I interpret it as a famous work of art, and yes, the canvas will have tears, decay, and pigment will have faded. But taking a step back, the essence is still there to be traced back to its origin. And in essence, an attempt to preserve that integrity. Circling back to the Sprint Blue one in IN, do you have any thoughts on this example? Do you think it should be the expectation for the price range? I appreciate the input.

The essence, the preservation, and integrity is only as good as its canvas; or in this case, the integrity of the base. Because a lot can change in 13 years. And if you don’t maintain it according to the specs of its origin, then you’ve deviated and need to get it back to its baseline.
Now to circle back to the Sprint Blue, I don’t know the car personally but I have heard the car was not properly cared for and you’ll be asking for trouble. Possibly a ticking time bomb. At the same time, it’s totally unfair for me to say all that. But the sources I know, know the previous owner tried his best to take care of the car but the car was in too bad of shape to bring back to life. An example is, the previous, previous owner would let oil run down to very, very low levels before adding oil. This could possibly case damage to the engine block.
I’ve brought back to life two RS4s. I spent way too much money to do this. These are extremely expensive cars to maintain. And if you don’t have the knowledge or can’t do the job yourself, then it will be an expensive proposition. But once you’re there, these are extremely enjoyable cars to drive. I’ve twice spent five figures on mechanical repairs upon receiving my cars, but I can now enjoy the car. I’m in the process of working on the body and interior on both of my examples. It’s a never ending project.
Friendly advice, I wouldn’t own these cars if you can’t afford the repairs. Bc if you blow an engine, you’re automatically out at least $13k (bns engine plus cost to install) So repairs can easily cost a $1000 every time. I’m spending $1000 right now to have both left and right high pressure fuel pumps replaced. At the end of the day, you’ll be in a better position if you can purchase a car that’s better maintained; but should be mindful of repairs coming up.
Good luck!

Out of OP’s stated price range, granted its even a real ad, but this is a clean example of a RS4 in a color combo I have not seen previously. Ti and low miles to boot at what seems to be a good price from the untrained RS4 eye. Again, I have no affiliation with this ad, but I’d love to see an example like this stay in the enthusiast community.

What a gem indeed. $29K for a 21,000 mile Ibis White RS4 - possibly the best color for that platform. I’d scoop that up if I knew the wife wouldn’t be filing for divorce lol.
Sorry to clutter your thread, OP. Good luck with your search!

Glad to share, as I said; I’d rather see this one stay within the community. I couldn’t buy it at the moment anyway, but a reverse image search of what’s on the CL add brings back no hits for any of the images, so that’s promising. I feel bad for the OP of the CL based on the description.

Yeah, that was a $40-45k car with those miles...though the silver interior seems unpopular. I have NEVER seen one on ibis though. That MAY have been a 1 in ~5 combo.

I know color is important to you, but this seems like a good deal here:
https://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/889826-2007-Phantom-Black-RS4-w-101k-Miles-Lots-of-Goodies-amp-Maintenance-Need-Gone
Seller has kept up on maintenance, has detailed records, and the mileage is reasonable. Wrap needs touched up, but this is about as good as it gets under <20k.

Did you guys do your due diligence on this? I HIGHLY doubt that car got sold for $29995. The owner jbeaus4 is a member here on Audizine and that classified ad describes his car to a T except as the wrong color. (The car is Suzuka Gray and not Ibis White.) That Craigslist poster used one or more of his pictures even if it was a legitimate classified ad which I a again, HIGHLY doubt.

Makes sense, I simply asked for more pictures to investigate. The immediate reply was it had already sold. Most likely scam now that you mention the correct exterior color.

Best of luck with your search OP! Like @ssc_rs4 said, allow a bit of wiggle room for maintenance items which will pop up within the first year of ownership.

1 of 1 if it was indeed Suzuka:
There were 839 MY 2008 RS 4 4.2 SEDAN 4-DR 6-SPD quattro sold in the US.
There were 4 MY 2008 RS 4 4.2 Sedan 4-DR 6-SPD quattro with Suzuka Gray Metallic exteriors sold in the US.
There were 3 MY 2008 RS 4 4.2 Sedan 4-DR 6-SPD quattro with Suzuka Gray Metallic exteriors with Black interiors sold in the US.
Edit: Just to add a bit more info on that Suzuka CL ad, that car is currently owned by @carsikher on IG (https://www.instagram.com/p/B-c4LYVppLg/) in California as far as I know and was purchased from @0260 here on Audizine, so I highly doubt that ad is legit.

You sure his is a slick top and platinum interior? That would mean two people are claiming to own the same car....

That ad is a scammer trying to get someone to bite. With that, the pics are from out west (not VT), car is Suzuka, not Ibis, and is the only sunroof delete car known to exist (with TI) in either color. I ended up selling the car recently and miss it every day! Although my new toy is a joy to drive as well[:)]

@bakedziti . . . You didnÂ’t do anything wrong. You just posted a link to an AD and advised potential buyers to look into it.
@b6bydesign04 is right; the Suzuka Gray/Silver/Ti RS4 slicktop is now on the West Coast. We are fortunate to be the next custodians after @jbeaus4.
I contacted @jbeaus4 this morning, and he did not take those pictures. He does not believe the pictures were taken in Vermont because of the type of driveway. If it is indeed a picture of the Suzuka Gray, then I suspect the pictures were taken in Oregon or Utah.
I also contacted Audi America Customer Experience to determine if there were any 2008 Audi RS4s in Ibis (T9T9) with silver interior (QJ), sunroof delete (3FA), and titanium package (PQE). So far, AACE confirmed there were 3 Ibis/Silver RS4s for the 2008 MY. I am waiting to see if there is additional specificity with respect to the two other options/codes.
IÂ’ll let yÂ’all know if it exists.

Just wanted to post an update and thank everyone for the responses in private and in this thread. Super helpful all around. Came across a Sprint Blue / Silver int. (only 35 made in the combo, according to my calculus from the registry) on AutoTrader for $25.5 with 104k miles, 5 owner. Recognizing the seller is absolutely firm on price, just reached out to them for a long shot. Afterwards, did a quick search on BAT to understand and gauge a price point more or less. Albeit a black interior, a Sprint sold for $25.5 with 71K, 2 owner. So coming back full circle, I reached out to the dealership in IN for more detailed information, including pics of underhood and underside - in addition to any history outside of Carfax. They are responsive and said they will do their best to dig a little deeper into the vehicle. The RS4 God's will likely strike me down in the end for this. [o_o] The search continues.....

There is a big paint chip on the front, right next to the grill by the upper inside corner of passenger side fog light grill....very hard to see in the pics, but there is a black spot you can see if you look closer. There is/was also a dent in the rear passenger door right below the window. Lots of scratches, but maybe someone did a paint correction. The engine covers look like they were dipped in acid....not just faded from the heat, likely why there are no engine bay pics in a car known for it's engine. They did a pretty good job hiding the issues in the listing pics.

Sorry to derail, but did the guy with the fantastic Imola yellow rs4 ever sell it? That was the one imho.
Yes, I believe it went to TX.
Was there a FS thread here for it?
And yes: https://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/887840-2007-Imola-Audi-RS4-72K-Miles-29-000

Still on the hunt and taking a deep dive into where some of these went with a few Hail Mary passes in between. Does anyone know what happened to this one? The Sprint on BAT did go for $33K yesterday 75k miles. 1 of 3 Sprint's without a sunroof if my math is right on the registry.

The higher mileage Ibis you linked about was traded in to AZEuros in Arizona for a Q7. And bought by someone in California. But we haven’t see it yet.

Thanks for the info SSC, another one in the RS4 black hole :) I went way back to 2015 in the forums and came across a super interesting sun roof delete Ibis. I reached out to the seller AfterDark possibly for more information about what happened to it. Maybe someone has information on it as a shot in the dark.

I may stand corrected, becuase there is no 3FA option on any of the Ibis's.

The SB on BAT was for sale on Az for months around $29k. You should have grabbed it.

Good luck with the sale!! I’m going to watch the auction as well. I’m sure you’ll get what you deserve for the car.

From my understanding, it is a true 1 owner vehicle with a great service record. @ssc_rs4 was kind enough to reach out to me about this one.
