BOSCH 5 Wire Wide Band Oxygen Sensor LSU4

What does the LSU4.2 mean? It is a universal wideband so I just figure instead of paying $300 for a new one get a universal for $70... But will it work? Bosch P/N: 17014

that's just the sensor, the rest of the 300 is for the control unit and display module as well as different hookups and signal simulators. That sensor is more like $50 new, retail.

Um, I meant for my stock replacement... Sorry bout that... I am looking to replace my pre-cat o2 with a universal... The dealer wanted like $300 when I can get a universal for $70...

your front o2 sensor is not a wideband type.

the guy at advanced autoparts cross referenced front 02 sensor with the VW one, ordered it, installed it, and paid much less than 300.

01 has a 5 wire 02 sensor that reads in lamda, isn't that a wide band 02 sensor? I have been told that it is the same as a wide band 5 wire sensor.

Do you know if the zoldman o2 sensors sold by vast are 5 wire sensors?

You're such a nice guy mike!! [:D] And bitter, thanks for knowing everything in my life... And boosted up, was that the wideband or just a regular 4 wire o2?

it was a five wire, i have a MY 2001, and that's what mine had originally. The newer Passats i believe use the same exact O2 sensor. But about 100 dollars cheaper........

ah, 01 dbw. wouldn't know definitively. lsu4.2 would be the wideband sensor.

why? is that CEL code that you got?, because i changed my pre-cat 02 sensor after i got that code, and nothing changed. Then i cleaned the MAF sensor and the CEL and problem went away.

so should i just try and clean my maf sensor first? what did you use to clean it?

take it out of the airbox, cleaned it with Carb Cleaner. Then let it air dry, then reinstall. I would try this first before changing 02 sensor.

AEB and ATW engines have 4-wire narrowband O2's

AWM and newer have 5-wire wideband O2's

i was looking at ecs sight and it said with that 30 dollar 02 sensor it has worked great with atw(mine) engine codes and has been known to clear up the problem of the sec. air injections incorrect flow. so it looks like i have two cheap shots at it and then well see how bad i want that check engine light off

V-dub also has the 5 wire, Bosch. not thirty dollars, but not 300 as he said before.
