well ive had my system installed since summer, but i never posted pictures. i also have 2 pictures of the turbo installed(gt2871 eliminator). only thing i have to do is change the carpeting on the amprack this spring. i was to impatient and put some ghetto stuff on it instead of waiting for the right stuff. enjoy...

i like how the amprack is locked...

i assume you have to move the sub box to drop the rack?

Eurotuned_A4
03-10-2006, 07:50 PM
yeah i have to move the sub. i want it like that though. the sub is connected to the back seat by brackets so it doesnt move while hard driving and etc. basically the amp rack is kinda hard to get down. so if anyone tries to steal the stuff, it will take a lot of time. i never really have to get to the amps, so its not that big of a deal.

2nd that.

also do you have some kind of ventilation in that setup. seems like your amps would get very hot in there.

Overall killer setup though[up]

security is secret....lol. actually its stock, but im getting something soon. but if i get an aftermarekt security system, i would have 2. any recommendations on security systems and etc?

there is som ventilation. the sides of the amprack are open, but thats about it. the amps get hot, but nothing bad. in summer i think im gonna put 2 little fans in there. i just dont want to right now.

my brother has a similar slide out amp rack like that on his grand prix GTP (which is a sick 11 second car). he used those little computer fans and that kept the amps suprisingly very cool in comparison to without them

nice amp rack idea but yea, heat might be an issue. just put a pc chassis fan on either side, one pushing-one pulling and that should handle the cooling needs.

Nice setup...I am going to be installing my system into the A4 once I pull it out of my Lexus. How did you run the rca's and power cable? Up the center of the car or along the door jambs? Which way is easiest? Where did you go through the firewall? Thanks (Audi noob here)

As far as alarm systems I can say that all of the DEI products are the best. They make Viper, Python, AutoMate, etc. They really are a quality product and I never hear of their stuff malfunctioning(as long as it is installed properly). I know a few people who bought Compustar stuff and have had problems and such...here is the DEI website http://www.directed.com/

well, i remember hearing that running the stuff up the center is a pain, so i did it along the doors. i ran my wire through the ECU box. there is a piece of grommet or whatever i cut a hole through. i did the same for my boost gauge. just make sure that its a tight fit so no water or whatever can get in.

viper alarms are awesome..i've had several.

nice job on everything...very clean looking.

thanks. im looking into alarms. there are so many different types, but i keep hearing viper and such. thanks for the comment

Will 4 gauge power cable and rca's fit? So you went up the side and then under the backseat into the trunk? Whoops I'm hijacking[:p]

Eurotuned_A4
03-12-2006, 04:58 PM
yeah, it will fit. it will be tight, but it will work. i actually ran the power wire on the other side of the car so not all wires are crammed on one side. it was easier for the rcas to go on one side, and the power cable up the drivers sides. it depends on how you set your stuff up. i just set it up so it was easiet for me. it was my first stereo install, but it came out really good, even my amp rack. i had some professional help from family though.

Your alarm will only be as good as the person who installs it.

Eurotuned_A4
03-12-2006, 06:16 PM
i know that. thats why im gonna have it installed at a reputable place. i wouldnt know how to install it anyways.

anyone know a place to get carpeting that would match the stock stuff in my trunk? the carpet on my amprack is kind of ghetto and i want it to match more.

when i had my store a company called select products in miramar florida had everything i needed. auto carpets, install accessories, custom crossovers, bendable plywood, carbon fiber sheets, plexi, etc..

great info. ill definately look into them. the only thing i dont like about my amp rack is the carpet. its not bad, but i would rather have it match a little more.

Great stuff at the site! that carbon fiber looks temping to work with. So whats the correct color carpet? Charcoal?

Eurotuned_A4
03-13-2006, 10:34 PM
yeah its charcoal. i just order 4 yards of it so ill have some extra for future stuff. they have charcoal with 3 different prices. i think it has to do with thickness. i just ordered the trunk liner type. that should do the job. i also ordered 2 fans for the amp rack.

what do you guys think of my making the box so that theamps sit flush and are kind of boxed in? if that makes any sense. kind of like the amps and etc are sitting inside the amp rack on not on it, but you can see them. hopefully you know what im talking about. i, thinking about doing that to it will look even better when the rack comes down. ill make it so i can take it on and off. in my mind it sounds like a cool idea.

You're talking about a false floor type deal where everthing sits flush. That is easy as pie. How did you hinge your amp rack? I like that idea. I'm just wondering where you secured the hinges

Eurotuned_A4
03-14-2006, 11:51 AM
i used some srews and nuts with 3 hinges. it was a pita to get the nuts on the screw since there isnt a lot of room, but i did it. i did it on the part where there are holes all the way across it(if you are looking up if you were laying in your trunk). it actually worked out good. no problems yet.

the false floor idea is what i was talking about. i think it will look a lot cleaner.
