For reference. One sold last year for $32k without the JHM exhaust. Color, miles the same.

Fewer and fewer cars under 100k miles, especially this clean.

This camera man should just take everyone's for sale pictures. Proper!

I don't comment on sellers' selling prices (and I don't see why these forums tolerate it), but $22k is way too low for this type of car, especially at this mileage point. This is my opinion whether I have one of these special cars or not, and I do. But Audi quality, Quattro, V8 (with the resultant sound), manual, still smallish size but roomy...these cars will not only be sought after, they will begin to appreciate in value in a few years (especially lower mileage and well-kept examples). This is especially so if and when electric vehicles are a larger percentage of new vehicles sold (whether by mandate or market dictates). I would not sell my car for less than upper $20s, and I've got a few more miles than this car. Best of luck with your sale, OP!

Love a clean RS4.Why do so many change the look to black alloys? Supose thats the look of the times. Give me the contrast color of a nice silver/grey aluminum wheel to a black tire. Guess im just old. [:)]

Don't be ridiculous. $40k is high, but its worth more than $22k for this color and condition. I've seen some low 70k cars go between 26-32k on BAT...and those weren't Misano Red. Gotta consider where this car is located as well...cars sell for a little more around here.

The bottom fell out of the RS4 market in the summer/fall of 2018. The BAT prices I've seen lately indicate the market has turned back upwards. Either way, this is/was never a $22k car. It's worth what someone pays for it, and the only way to get $36k is to ask for it. <shrug> I've been guilty of price policing myself, but I've learned it doesn't do much good for anyone. That said, I'm willing to bet he gets close to $30k, plus or minus.

Also for reference, how much did this one sell for last year?

irrelevant examples

You are from Canada so I will chalk it up to that. This car wouldn't last 60 seconds at $22k.

I think you are spot on with a lot of your posts, but I don't think recent auction comps are "irrelevant".

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2007-audi-rs4-62/

A 74k mile RS4 sold on BaT last month for $19k. I know you want to prop up RS4 values, but the market doesn't bear it out for cars that aren't a rare color or super low mileage.

The Ohio Misano sat for a year before it sold for $30k, and it had 54k miles.

This car might not be worth $22k (though comps might support that number), but it's definitely in the $20s.

A few weeks before that Misano sold, an example with a black interior (instead of the silver like that had) and 20k miles more sold for $2k over that.

I believe there was a 74k mile Misano from NY (not this one) that sold in the low 30s within the last month.

170k mile Ibis sold for $19k.
80k mile Sprint sold for $35k (with a fender bender)
15k mile Avus Ti sold for $45k yet a 40k mile PB Ti could sell for the same (and has).

I mean I could probably continue but it gets tiring. BaT auctions are a great starting point but are nowhere near a full story. That 17k mile Sprint that sold for $43, well it's documented that someone would have paid close to $50k for it but missed it due to vacation.

I mean I could probably continue but it gets tiring. BaT auctions are a great starting point but are nowhere near a full story.

Of course they aren't, but they do represent a sizable portion of RS4 transactions, and they are public. People listing their car for $XX,XXX OBO and then noting it as sold some time later in most cases didn't sell for anywhere close to $XX,XXX. The multitude of BaT and Manheim/ADESA results paint a much broader (and much less rosy) picture than a handful of anecdotal examples.

I guess the real conclusion is that pricing is absolutely all over the place. If you have a RS enthusiast with cash to burn, you get a result like the Sprint Blue mentioned above, whereas (as already mentioned) a PB '07 with lowish miles recently went for <$20k.

Some anecdotal stories of my own:

I sold a Mugello Blue/TI/Black with 85k miles for ~$27.5K in March 2017 (probably an outdated data point by now). Asking price was $30K. Included 4x new tires in purchase price also.

I sold a 60k mile '07 Avus/Black in August 2018 for $32.5K. In great shape, mechanically and cosmetically. Asking price was $35K.

In February 2019, I sold an equally clean '08 Avus/Exclusive for $29K (however, sale price included full brake job, 4x new MPSS, new PCV/CC, and new motor mounts, so net to me was much lower). Asking price started at $32K and dropped down to $29K. True selling price was a little under $26K.

Beauty. Come time this would be an ideal color combo. Back to silver wheels of course.

Apples to apples...this car sold last year for $27K amidst some buyer/seller controversy. How much is it worth now? Answer is simple: whatever someone is willing to pay for it.
For reference of where the market was for this exact car and to add some drama to your day:
