So I am looking for a nice phone holder for my S6. I have an iPhone XS Max so it needs to be able to hold a large phone. Show me what you got. Dash or center console.

I got one off amazon that locks into the CD player that’s pretty solid, took a bit of manipulation to get it situated because the adjustment screw touches the dash, but I got it.
Had a second one that clipped into a vent for a phone dedicated to the V1 app, now I use the Max360C so I got rid of that one.

Love my Proclip mount. It is perfectly placed below the MMI screen with my Pixel 3. The IPhone is a little larger, but should still work well.

I let my girlfriend hold my phone and angle it towards me. I even have her polish my sunglasses so there are no fingerprints.

Thought about using a flexible neck cup holder type in the right one.

I just toss both my home and work phone in the bin just in front of the shifter. I almost never mess with my phone while driving. Use the hands free calling through the radio and utilize the car gps system. 99% of the time.

As seen in another post. I have it and can attest to it's quality and functions as advertised.

And the magnet is strong enough to hold a XS Max with a case on it?

I like mine near high and closer to the cluster, so I designed and 3d printed a mount that works with this phone holder (https://amzn.to/2GCmrHv) that does Qi charging.
I couldn't find a magnetic, charging holder that was strong enough for any phone. This one is easy to place and remove the phone one handed. It plugs into the car (I hardwired mine into fusebox) and is one of the strongest wireless chargers I've found.

It's the same one I posted. I have a Samsung Note9 in a case. Big phone, and the magnet holds it find in most cases. Make sure the sticker is lined up with the mount. On a 5 mph launch, it will pop off the mount. Otherwise, it does a good job of holding the phone.

Their website says it doesn't work with wood or carbon fiber trim. Do you have either?

That's what I've got too, I'm glad I asked. I think I'll give this one a shot. I have a CD holder now and I hate it. Every time the MMI retracts it knocks the phone off.
I use a $9.99 magnetic holder from Amazon. I installed it at far-left of the center a/c vents so the MMI barely touches it during actuation, if at all. Fairly unobtrusive, easy to mount/dismount the phone, holds phone reliably well.

I don't have that mount. I answered your question without thinking of who it was meant for. Sorry.

I have this one too, and yes, the magnet is very strong. Should hold an iPhone Max or Plus no problem.

To those with this mount. Any of you have the CF interior?

If you look at how this one clips in, it simply goes over the trim. It latches between the panels on the bottom, and the vent on the top. Should not be an issue with this mount. I love mine, and I usually hate stuff cluttering up my dash/console. I also have a very thin case on my phone, as I keep it in my pocket, and the magnetic disc adds no additional thickness. Perfect solution for me.
If you're worried about scratching the trim over time, you could take one of those sun glass cleaning cloths (super thin), and cut it to match the shape of the section of the mount that fits over the trim, then use some spray adhesive to stick it to the underside of the mount?

@gimpgutter. Do you have the wood or CF interior? The proclip website says it won't work on either of those types. But I can't see how it would matter. Thoughts?

Sorry @LawDawg. I may have mixed up which mount I was talking about. The proclip one is the one we are wondering about.

I've got the carbon fiber trim. It does. It works fine with it. Barely comes in contact with it. I used a small section of double sided tape just in case. I'll try to remember to get a photo after work today.

I have a YOSH magnetic holder in both cars. Really handy and minimal. Cheap, and easily slides onto a vent slat and holds the phone nicely at any angle you want. Sits far enough over to avoid the screen on shut off. Phone needs a case really to attach the magnetic plate to, rather than sticking it to the phone itself

This is a no-name brand but it comes with CD, vent, and dash mount plus the 12v charger. Wireless charging and automatic open/close arms. Overall fit and finish is great for the $37 spent. Would definitely recommend.
FYI, I have the same exact phone and use the vent which includes a small stabilizer arm and works very well. Just have to hide the wire once I stop being lazy. I use the Apple leather case and wireless charging works fine. Don’t know about any of the fatty otter box type cases.

Love this magnetic, vent frame fit. The fit is perfect. Have the one plus 6t with a case and it holds great. The one plus is at least as heavy/big as iPhone X.161141

I had that same one and loved it, even recommended it in other similar posts. I changed to gain wireless charging but if that does not matter, get this one.
