I'm looking for my spreadsheet because I think I waited a little longer than I wanted to change the cam follower. I want to say there is around 10k-13k on it. The follower itself was worn good but no chips/edges from the coating that wore off, smooth to the touch. I was concerned about the tip of the HPFP. Some pictures I compared too make it look okay but maybe not..still figured I'd as good ol AZ
I did get to meet this guy and his nice RS4...I might be a tad jealous

From what I can see, it looks fine. You do need to clean off that grit in the first picture though. Shit like that can wreck your engines.

^^Agreed. You caught it in time. Clean up and re-assemble.

Thanks guys - that's good news. I Was hoping to hear from people like you two! Those were pre pictures and it's all cleaned up now and reinstalled and running good. The bottom bolt on the HPFP isnt stripped but it's def not as tight as it should be. I talked to a few reputable shops about a helicoil and one of them didn't like the idea because of the aluminium housing. I read lots of people that did helicoils to these areas and others that went with the stud bolt option. options, suggestions are much welcomed please.

If the threads are about gone I would helicoil it and put a stud in at least that one.

so yeh both heli and a stud? Figured a stud would be good enough but a heli as well cant hurt. Thank you sir

A helicoil in aluminum will be stronger than the original threads. It will be just fine. That being said, if you want to replace the housing, I have a used one available.

Be carefull with stud idea. Some hate it as it makes the fuel pump difficult to remove without a relcated coolant pipe. Cant remember the details

Studs are fine with the banjo bolt setup, but a PITA for the flexible hose found on 07-08 cars.

haha thanks - I was waiting for that. I knew you had it for sale but who knows, maybe I'll take you up on it.

yeh I remember reading about that but I got rid of the metal coolant pipe, so should be good

and that is me, 08 ,and I remember reading about how it will be a PITA. I need to revisit some threads about that. IIRC, someone shortened the length of the studs to help with that but I maybe wrong.
