Since there are limited power mods for the 3.0T platform and it gets pretty good traction, I'm looking to attack performance from a different side. What kind of weight mods are there that don't cost an arm and a leg? This is a subject that I haven't seen brought up very much, other than lightweight wheels and brakes.

Limited? Have you gone dual pulley, ported supercharger, larger throttle bodies, meth injection, upgraded fuel pumps, e85 tuned?

Not much lightweight options afaik unless you want to demolish the car (seats/options and modules). The battery is maybe to biggest weightsaver but not sure if those lightweigh batteries come in big amperage/power storage...as these care kinda need some power. Exhaust might be an other, but unless you go for the more expensive titanium or catless/mufflerless. I'm affraid unless you tackle the bodywork replacing with carbon parts overall you can't gain much as everything is made to be robust and luxorous. The backseat upper part (at least in the avant) is pretty heavy and glad my car is a 'truck' on paper....but maybe i srewed up the weightbalance and it is even more front noise heavy :p. Just enjoy your car ;).

Putting yourself on a diet always works.
Many years ago John Force was looking at how to shave weight from his top fuel funny car and decided the cheaper route was to put himself on a diet.

Yes, limited. There are many engine performance mods for these cars. It is basically tune, pulleys, the two fuel pumps, tb, ported s/c and meth (which honestly I don't know much about). That is roughly seven mods. I come from a platform where there are many more mods that can be done. I know these mods will produce good numbers, but again, it is all one-side of the equation. Everyone knows our cars are heavy, so I wasn't sure if someone started to produce mods for this.

For a daily driver though, seems pointless to me. If you're still single pulley, there's still room for performance mods. E85 is a big deal, as well as dual pulley

Those 7 mods have members consistently in the low 11s and a few hitting high 10s in the quartermile. They are tried and true and give a lot of performance per $ that basic weight saving won't be able to touch. If you're looking at dropping weight you can start with traditional weight saving methods, ie. remove the back seat, spare tire, lightweight wheels, lightweight rotors, smaller battery, etc.

Sell the A6 and get an S4? That's 200-300 lbs right there

He is right you know. Gutting the interior with after market race seat , changing out to light 18 inch wheels with 2 piece rotors and smaller better brakes, smaller battery , remove spare, and lose weight.

I'm not disputing those mods aren't effective. I'm trying to see what proven, realistic weight saving mods are out there. There is more to performance than just adding power. Our cars are pigs. If there is an easy way to save weight, while still being able to maintain it's luxury/DD standards, then it is worth evaluating.

Honestly, there isn’t much you can do besides stripping the car and lightweight wheels.
You might be able to find some carbon fiber doodads here and there, but there really isn’t a market for lightening this car.

You asked a good question. The folks here are saying it’s not worth evaluating.

If you really want to lose weight, there's a guy on the b8 Facebook page, Jay bullington? That guy did some major weight loss with his b8

The only additional weightsaving if you want to retrain the lux and intrrior style beside battery and body panels. Possible but as we all know very expensive especially the first mold making. Something i loved to do (myself) and already looked several times how to but investment is pretty big. Fenders, hood, maybe the doors and trunk are possible...but not sure what the weightsaving would be....100-200kg?

I saw a great video from the chief engineer of the last CTS-V talking about weight saving. The doors hood, and trunk in aluminum/carbon fiber saved a lot of weight.
