View Full Version : S5 Sportback Subwoofer upgrade

I have a 2018 S5 sportback with the B&O sysyem and was wondering if anyone has upgraded the subwoofer in the car. The car has decent mids and highs but the lows are kinda lacking. If so what route did u go as far as upgrading.

I'm getting ready to upgrade the whole system with JL Audio (VX amps, C7 components, 8W7 sub, etc...). The new sub is going into the pocket/cubby on the rear passenger area of the trunk. You can pop out that section as an entire panel and there's enough room in there for a nice fiberglass box to house an 8" sub. I didn't want to impede on my trunk space at all, and with the exception of about a 1" protrusion from the sub, and the 3 aluminum bars that JL sells as a sub woofer 'guard' I'll retain about 98% of the usable space back there!
I'm gathering parts now... will update the thread with some pics when we're done. :)

I've done a few factory sub upgrades. Can you post pics and measurements of where it's located and the enclosure, if any?

Can you post pics and dimensions of the factory sub box? I'd like to see what options are available for a drop in woofer replacement, if any (yes I find these things fun)

Hadn't checked on this post in a while, it seemed like it wasn't going to get a response. I'm glad to know that it did. Looking forward to see some pics of when your system is finished. I'm still in the market for some ideas so I can get the audio & sub upgraded.

Can you post some detailed photos and measurements of the subwoofer box? Or better yet can you send it to me so I can measure it myself?
