Ok ..got a 08 A4 sline and need summer tires. 235 40r18. What's out there that wont break the bank but will perform well. Got a line on some conti extreme contact sports for $799 OTD. I dont necessarly need a super sport tire that wears real fast BUT I dont put a lot of km,s on the car...not really interested in a all season tire either....
Thanks Ed

Someone could probably advise you better than me, however i have Continental premium contact 6's on mine and they are brilliant. I'm pretty sure they are summer tyres as opposed to all seasons but i could be wrong. Not sure on the price in the U.S though.

It is -12 and under an extreme cold warning for Toronto and you want summer tires?? Crazy man haha.

Honestly though I would go with a high performance all season if you don’t want to worry about wear. I had the Michelin a/s3+ and they held the car great in dry and wet conditions. Could not get it to hydroplane in the real wet. And the have a 50-70k km tread warranty

Nothing beats the Firestone indy 500, for the price.
Tons of expensive cars got them on track.

Got mine in 18'' last summer, 850$ cad tx-in and rimmed (note that we have 1 tx more of 9.5%.)

But note that they are SUMMER's not 4 seasons. On cold and snow the car will barely moves.
We've just got 7.5'' of snow this week. The B7 is stucked, all wheels are spinning.

The best overall tire imo for nordic countries , is the continental DWS06 , but only when you get surprised with snow, use winters on heavy snow. This is what I have on wife's car, and you can at least move the car.
On winter, I use hakka8.

Too late I suppose but I’m a fan of the Sumitomo HTR Z-III summers. I’ve run two sets now and they’re great in the rain (necessary is Seattle) and grippy in the dry. And they (were) only $100/ea. They’ve since been replaced with the HTR Z-5 but the reviews seem much less complimentary.

My only real complaint with them is road noise is pretty loud and the treadwear isn’t great (par for the course with summer tires though). But I’ll never run all seasons again in my own car. Summers are just too much fun 75% of the year. The other 25% I have my winter set for. Don’t see the point in compromising year round...

Having said that I did just buy a set of DWS06 for the wife’s Q7 to replace a set of medium worn continental ContiSport summers. No reason that car needs summer tires when it’s a family hauler slash mommy missile. The ContiSports seemed fine and relatively grippy for such a large SUV, for what it’s worth.

I feel ripped I only get 25% summer and 75% winter
