Hey everyone!

Would appreciate some help and insight cause my car buddies are clueless at this.

So having a couple of issues with my new A4 (new to me lol).

First off, random oil use? been keeping a close eye on my oil, sometimes its dipping but I've put a litre in and its stayed at the same level, I havent done any motorway/highrpm driving (bearing in mind 1.6 is 5 speed [=(] ).

Second, more worrying issue is that sometimes my car will just stall out, for instance if I'm pulling into my drive and maneuvering to park. Pulling in to get fuel etc. Slow movements. It'll crank and want to start but it just wont. (This seems to only happen when at operating temps)

One of the boys send second issue sounds like bad fuel filter, but I would say could be more spark Issue.

No CEL or codes.

Sorry if this is really nooby, its my second car and I absolutely love it and want to look after it.

Appreciate any help!

if it’s turbo car they all drink oil like it’s water.

Most have had to replace fuel filters on these models over here it’s likely part of the issue. If it starts and runs after resting over night the sediment is settling in the filter, after driving the sediment stirs enough and then blocks the flow to motor starving it of fuel. Filter cannot throw a code. Spark plugs ignition coils will throw a code for misfires I think there’s a preset in the EXU after X number of misfires the cell light turns on.

I only have a cheap OBDII reader. Nothing on that, may invest in a more expensive iOS compatible one. Yeah it’s a fairly rare car :/

Cool good to know on the plugs & coils. Non turbo, fairly small car (engine wise). Appreciate the help, I’d say the filter is 100% due a change & an oil system flush, oil coming off on dipstick filthy.

You might be the only member that still posts here that has this engine. We only got 2.0t’s and 3.2’s in the US and most members are from here.

Good luck man. You might want to pay a shop for an hour of diag and fix it yourself based on what they tell you.

For those who care! Thought I'd tie this up.

Oil leak - Previous owner/mechanic 'fixed' the main engine hose, by sticking a thicker piece of hose on, cause oil to shoot out at high RPMs. Getting a new Assembly installed Friday.

Weird rev issues - crank & ECT sesnors.

All in, was quoted 372.63 (Euro) (411.80 USD) to fix the issues and install new parts.

I simply do not have the time to fix myself, even though i know I probably could.

Thanks for the help guys.
