Hi Everyone,
Would like to hear your thoughts on winter tire setups before I go out and order some in the next week. Currently have Hartmann Rotor Reps 19'' with Blizzak LM32 tires- 255/40/19. I have not been a huge fan of the blizzaks as they wore relatively quick and were so/so in the snow. I have my eye on Nokian Hakka R3s and Michelin Ice xi3. Any have either of these tires and are happy? Any tires that you really enjoy that I didn't suggest?
I live in MN where the temps get really low and have a fair amount of snowfall on the ground.
Appreciate the input!
Best-

Nokian make the absolute best winter tires imo, but you can’t get them in 21” and 20” is very limited. You can probably get them on 19s.
I’m running Dunlop Winter Sport 4D on 20s, they seem decent enough, but only using them because of size availability. I’d rather have Nokians.

I run PA4 on the S and X3 on the other cars including the Silverado. They all have great grip and low tire noise. I'll use them for around 5-6 seasons and put at least 10k/season.
I have the Nokian Hakka R3s on my SQ5. Great in the snow, but fair warning they are very soft, so not that great on dry roads and they are noisy.
They start at 12/32" and the fronts are already down to 10/32" after 3200 miles so I don't expect them to last very long either unfortunately. Maybe 24k miles to 4/32" if I'm lucky. This is on par with my last set the Continental CrossContact Winter.

I have been happy so far with Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 here in Saskatchewan.

I have Hakkas and Alpin's for a couple of my vehicles and you can't go wrong with either. Best studless tires for sure!

Where in MN do you live?
I had Nokian WRG3 on a S4 in the past
I now have Hakka on my C7.5 S6
I actually recall feeling better in the s4 with WRG3
I am in similar situation considering tires for XC90, leaning towards wrg's since USUALLY its dry and cold, some wet vs snow pack where i live in Western SD

I have Michelin X-i3 on my SUV, Michelin PA4 on my S4 and Pirelli Winter Soto Zero on my S6. Pirelli after only about 8k highway km’s seem to be wearing very fast. If you want a performance winter I would say Michelin PA4 would be your best bet. If you don’t drive crazy fast in the winter I would get the Michelin X ice, the non performance winter tires seem to have much better grip and safety than performance winter tires.

My wife has a 2017 Q7 with 21” wheels - and we bought Nokian Hakkas. So while I can’t speak to the A/S/RS form factor, they definitely make tyres for 21s.

Good to know, nothing in 275/30/R21 or compatible profile is what I should have said.

Bought my S6 new in February and swapped a set of Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3. I'm quite happy with their performance and they are pretty quiet, only put 1800 miles on them before swapping to my summer setup in late April.

Blizzak just came out with the ws90. Supposed to last longer and perform better than the ws80's. I bought a set, will let you know next spring!

Ian bear Chicago and they do a decent job with clearing streets. As such I am able to run all-season tires through the winter. If it’s really bad I have an understanding with my boss to work from home on bad weather days. The times I have had to be out in the snow the all-seasons have still been able to dig in really good. The Quattro system is truly amazing in these cars
