View Full Version : 2012 A6, cannot lock/unlock doors by touching door handle.

I have a 2012 A6 Premium Plus and the one thing I've always wondered about is the fact that since I bought it (over a year ago) I could never get the door lock/unlock "convenience key" feature to work. I have scanned the car with VCDS and get no errors. Is there something I should try? Or maybe my car doesn't have this feature (even though the door handles have the little square)?

2012 premium plus doesn’t include this feature. Only prestige for 2012. I think starting in 2013 premium plus cars got it also.

Really? Then why have the little sensors on the door handle? I guess that's solves my issue though...lol.

You should have this function. There are a few things you need to confirm before you go into your car’s vehicle settings. First, is the remote battery good. Second, is the remote acknowledged by the car. Once these concerns are addressed, go into the car’s vehicle settings and confirm that the central locking in selected.

No, as previously stated, the 2012 Premium Plus models HAVE the square but do not have the convenience key feature, it was part of the prestige package.

My 2012 Prestige A7 has problems in the winter with the touch points. Cold hands and dirty car impact the sensitivity with my car seems like.

I believe the P+ cars have the square, but there are additional antennas and a module swap involved. Someone was able to do it using a kit from the dealer ($800 plus labor years ago)

Most of the provided information provided is correct. I have a 2012 PP A7 and was disappointed about not having the advanced key feature. I was so pissed that I had it retro fitted. It was very expensive, labor intensive. I got the kit from Kufatec for 700. labor was about 1K at the dealer. I could have spent 1.7k better...
