Hi there-

just realized after washing my car (2017 A4 Moonlight Blue) that the paint on the passenger side doors seems like burned. I honestly haven't seen anything like this before as it is very small spots, if I touch it I feel it smooth just like the rest of the paint, but it seems like faded or burned on the inside.

Do you think I'll to repaint the door, or does it seems like detailing can fix it? I don't want to waste time/money on detailing and not really working, hence I am looking for expert's opinion :) I need to return this lease in December so I am looking for something that looks good for the inspection while minimizing $ spent.

Thanks so much. [:)]

That doesn't look like Clear Coat Punch Through....looks more like some kind of chemical damage or contact damage. Burn through will look like a dull spot in the paint as if you used a magic eraser on it and would be much more even. Look for a good detailer in the area that has a paint thickness gauge. That will tell you quickly if it's been Polished too far.

Do you have any idea what might have been in contact with your car's paint, it looks like a chemical etch not really a burn as pdqpg mentioned.

Thank you. Got it detailed while I was fixing a dent and was completely washed off 149457

Really got me nervous it didn’t seem like something detailing would fix. Won’t underestimated it in the future :-)
