Good morning! My back-up camera no longer appears on the MMI screen when in reverse, all the sensors still work. Took all the trim apart to look at the camera and control module, plugged and unplugged all connectors and everything seems fine but still nothing. Got this code from VCDS, looks like there's an interruption in the communication. Any help or insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Borrow someone’s camera and see of replacing it works:
If it works then camera is issue.
I’d not then maybe module.
Borrow someone’s module and see if that works.
If neither work then need to dig

What year is the car? I'd have to dig through the paperwork for my car, but IIRC either the camera module or the wiring harness is one of those semi common failures.

my 2016 s6 with ~33k miles is in the shop for this. It killed my battery before and I didn't bother pulling codes. The funny thing is, right after jumpstarting or getting a fresh battery, it worked again for a couple days. I'll get it back any day now, but they replaced the camera module and had to re-align all the cameras.

2012 A7. Anymore information will be greatly appreciated! It was working fine one day and 2 days later, nothing.

I might look into getting a second hand control module and see if that works since Im way out of warranty. How did you solve the battery drain problem?

haven't gotten my car back yet, but the drain was likely from the bunk video unit. we'll see

they ended up replacing the entire 6c control module and had to perform the top-down camera recalibration like it was coming off the production line. for my 2016, the unit's p/n is 4H0-907-428-E (a little under $500 shipped, it looks like). weirdly enough, I had 4 modules that needed to be coded
It looks like the module is under the front passenger seat in my car, which means all that trim and the seat had to come out. YMMV on all of this. Crazy enough, the notes are pretty specific that they didn't really find any faults. They opened a case and upstream said just swap the module.

Hey, thanks for the update. This was all done under warranty? They never gave you a clear explanation as to why the entire module needed to be replaced or what was wrong with it?

Not sure why this TSB doesn't have the complete year range (it was applicable to my 2012), it should have everything you're looking for https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2016/SB-10094422-0699.pdf There has to be one of two faults with the 6C module and then repair or replace the wiring harness in the trunk lid (part #8K0-971-086-D). After reading that, curious if replacing the module is a permanent or temporary fix for jsmonet...

I'm sure it's a permanent fix.... Until it isn't.
I'll post up in this thread if my camera system winks out again. From what I've been reading, though, this is the common fix
