Curved A6 LEDs on headlights? [Archive]

I have seen a handful of A6s with a sleek, curved LED strip on the very top of the headlight. My 2016 has a straight line towards the bottom of the headlight, that branches off towards the outside (I can’t figure out how to post pics on here). This is the same LED style I see on every google image of an Audi A6 from 2016-2018. 2019-2020 have a similar straight line LED. It’s definitely not pre-2016. Anyone know if this is an optional design of some sort? I’m purely asking out of curiosity. I can’t find ANY A6 images on the web with this type of LED. I’m certain it’s not aftermarket. It looks factory, and I have seen it now on 4-5 different A6s. The rest of the car looks identical to my 2016. Any insight?

Nope, it’s a solid, curved strip at the very top. No bends other than the curve itself, and it’s not individual leds.

You’re probably referring to a C7.5 A6 Premium plus without the full LED headlamps. The full LED headlamps are optional and the base models get xenons with an LED DRL.

You’re probably referring to a C7.5 A6 Premium plus without the full LED headlamps. The full LED headlamps are optional and the base models get xenons with an LED DRL.

That still looks a little different, but that’s much closer, and that explanation makes a lot of sense.

I’ve seen A6s with the LED DRLs in the pic above (not full LEDs) and they do look curved in real. Not straight like in the picture. It slants upwards.

It doesn't have to be Prestige. You can get it as an option on 2016-2018.

Correct you are. Extremely less common to see a Premium + with LED's. Pretty safe to say, all Prestige trim models do have the LED lights. That was the crux of my statement, but I applaud the fact check

Umm, Ok... Must've been an option to downgrade what is a standard option for the prestige trim for the years mentioned in the OP...

That did change for 2018. Similar to other tech, LEDs also became standard equipment for MY18

Yes I saw a few preowned C7 A6 Prestiges with xenons as well.

These are actually the ones I have, and the ones I’m familiar with. I think it’s the non-full leds that I was ignorant on. After seeing the pic above of the white a6 with them, then seeing another one on the road, I think that must be the case.

I want to do this as well, the only problem I have is that they’re slightly tinted but due to them not being an OEM part I would fear of being responsible if an accident were to happen Fod for bid
