Finally booked myself in for a track day, but have a few car specific questions:

1. What is a safe oil temp to maintain? I have lap timer enabled so will keep an eye on oil temps, but what temp is too hot?

2. I need to pass a noise test at 4500rpm, but I can only rev to 4000 when parked, is there a way around this?

3. Has anyone here with an after market exhaust taken a sound test? interested to know what the readings were, I'm a little anxious I'll be too loud for the 100db limit.

TIA

(s6 btw)

I would say that target temp on the track would be sub 275F degrees and 300F would be the point where I would be ending things. Unless you're dealing with really high ambient air temps, I doubt you'll have issues. The fact you can only rev to 4,000 when in park/neutral is likely a good thing as they really can't measure really close to your car while you're under load/moving. You might see if you can locate an audio shop that can test you prior to your outing so you don't end up wasting your time.

Thanks MVR, really helpful.

oil temps are a non issue. If your talking a lapping event the biggest deal is your tire pressure and brake temp. Most lapping events run in 20 - 30 minute groupings. However I would recommend pulling off midway and keep your hot pressure several degrees under your cars recommended PSI. Second priority are your brakes. Depending on how hard you drive I would recommend you get a brake flush with high temp fluid and throw some cheap (relativley cheap) track pads on the car.

Thanks db12. It's an open pit lane event, so no session limits. For the reasons you mention I intend to stick with 15 minutes stints though. First time ever on track so won't be pushing hard, just enjoying a slow build up
