I've searched the forum and the web and haven't found any information that correlates to this issue.

The entire steering column allows for vertical motion when pushing on the steering wheel. Total motion is roughly 1/2". The force generated on the steering wheel during a decent braking scenario is enough to cause the motion and makes the care feel quite unstable.
Does anyone have any experience with this and a possible solution?

It’s a 2016. It’s not under warranty anymore?

Can you describe exactly what is moving half an inch, and what force you're applying to the steering wheel? Free play would be something to be concerned about, but applying force to radius of the steering wheel is an ample lever to cause the steering column to deflect a bit.

At the risk of making assumptions, the steering column and wheel aren't there to be pushed on with any substantial force and if you're bracing yourself against the wheel when braking you should probably reevaluate how you're positioning yourself in the car because it is asking for trouble.
