View Full Version : DV Return Hose Pressure Question

02-27-2006, 01:38 PM
I am trying to run the hoses for my DV and they don't bend well. I only have one spot where I need to make the bend and its near the TIP, so what I did was get a 90 degree pvc elbow that had a OD of 1" and it fit inside the hoses nice. So my question is will it be a problem with the pressure? It's decently thick about 1/8", and it's on the return side so I figured it would be fine. Just wanted a second opnion. Thanks [up]

it will be fine..not like the pvc is going to burst or anything [up]

Ok cool, I just didnt want it cracking and breaking apart sending a nice chunk into my turbo.

I don't think pvc will handle that kind of heat.

Any suggestions? Anyone know ambient heat rating of pvc?

you say that like all the plastic vw/audi uses on the motor withstands heat so well...

I found a solution. On the stock tip there was a nice elbow I could reuse, so all is well. [up]

by the way, never use pvc in an engine compartment. especially if you have something clamped around it. It will deform under much lower temps than you may think. A friend tried to make a pvc intake for his 240sx and his filter kept falling off cause the plastic shrunk and the clamp was no longer tight.
