The S5 is going in this week for a full clay bar, detailing and two coats of ceramic. I've never had this process done so I'm pretty excited to see the results, especially on this color.
For those who know the ceramic coating process well: should I even worry about a car cover to protect the paint from UV damage after it's all finished? The car is not a DD and also sits outside all day in California sun.
The second question for those saying yes: does anyone ever worry about condensation building up inside a car cover? We get a very high amount of fog and condensation in the evenings up in the hills, so I'm thinking that's probably a bad idea.

I wouldn't recommend a car cover at all. More harm than good overall. Audi's have good quality finishes overall. UV isn't as much of a concern for vehicles with good clear coats. There's a reason why most Honda's and Mazda's have clear coat failure. Just measure the thickness of their finishes vs any other car.
Enjoy the results!

If you are going to use a cover, just make sure your car is clean. Covercraft has some good outdoor covers and the material is breathable.

You need a car cover.
The paint its not the only concern, headlights, tail lights, and interior will suffer damage from the sun and the heat if the car is parked outside.

I live in FL. I also agree. Car cover necessary. Get an outdoor one. Check on occasion for any condensation build up. Youll be good.

I agree with not using one. Any dirt or dust that gets caught in between the car and the cover is just going to mar the paint and then all the work your having done was for nothing.

coatings are made for the elements. Most pro level coating are warranted for loss of UV protection along with other things.

I’m with EvoTo. I have quite a bit of experience with ceramic coatings and if you’re going to a reputable detailer then they should be coating all surfaces (headlights, tail lights, paint, plastic trim, etc.)
UV protection is practically the number 1 most effective benefit of ceramic coatings. A car cover will be more damaging with dirt and dust than the sun will be with UV rays.
