So , I recently purchased my 2012 audi a6 and I misplaced key , when I tryed to get replacement car doesnt respond to computer ! ? Tryed with over 2 car replacement computers nothing . I send car to dealer and they tell me key replacement is 550$ plus tax etc I agree and then they say they cant program it either (Audi Of Queens) NY . They run a diagnostic and they say I need another control module . When I get the controle module replacer at there dealer they say that wasnt the problem and they cant make the key because it still doesnt respond to the computer ! Now im left puzzled on how come audi doesnt seem to find the problem they want me to run a diagnostic for 190$ a hour and dont know what seems to be the problem they say I now have a electrical shortage ? And they need to find out whats the cause and can be priceyy$$$$$ help PLEASE ON WHAT TO DO.

the first key you purchased....was it new? in my experience, keys for these cars are unique and cannot be reused/reprogrammed from previous cars.
you bought a second key for $550 from the dealer, only to find out it didn't work? i assume they refunded you?
you bought a control module from teh dealer, only to find out it didn't work, and is not allowing the car to program any keys? i assume they refunded you and re-installed the original module?

if either of these assumptions have not been done, go to the dealer and demand it. you've probably spend $1000 for their trial and error, but you should only pay for repairs.
not sure how they determined you "needed" a new key or a new control module without already doing diagnostics

after you get a refund, go to a different dealer and pay the diagnostic fee. diagnostics should have been done first.

have been dealt with in a un professional man-nor . When I got my car towed to audi of queens I had felt my car would get a key replacement I did not know of any shortage , or that it will come this far . I feel like the audi technicians are basically making me pay for a trial and error ! In the first diagnostics I agree’d to it because grace informed me the vehicle was not responding to the computer that makes a key for my vehicle she said I had a faulty control module come to find out that wasnt the issue because after the controle module was installed my car still did not communicate with the computer that programs the key to my audi . I feel as highly trained audi technicians you should have detected my vehicle had a wiring shortage in the first “diagnostics” .
