View Full Version : Help-A6 C6 Removed Dash Under Steering - What is this Hella Resistor?

Looking for a little help from anyone that can identify what this part is and where it belongs. I removed the dash under the steering wheel on my 2013 A6 C7 to install RSNAV wireless carplay and when I was attempting to put everything back together, I noticed this resistor (?) dangling and not installed anywhere which definitely doesn't look right (see pics attached which are rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise for some reason).

Anyone know what this is and where it is supposed to be plugged in?? I thought perhaps it was related to the instrument dimming but don't see a slot where it should be installed.

Hey this looks like it.
4B0820539 (Sensor. Temperature. Air. Conditioning (A/C) Evaporator. Cabin. Inner - Car. )
"A Sensor that reads passenger Cabin Air Temperature. Front. Location-Center Outler. Location-Duct. Location-HVAC Box. Location-Inlet Duct. Location-Outlet Duct. Temperature Sensor for A/C Evaporator. "
Now...where exactly does it go....

Found it...
Left Vent Temperature Sensor - G150-
It looks like it goes in the air duct wherever the wire can reach...you should see a hole in the duct where it fits.
Maybe next to the letter "A" in your second pic? Hard to see...

That's extremely helpful and I am interested how you found that. I tried searching Google based on my picture but didn't come up with anything.

I didn't see any obvious 'receptacle' that was an obvious place to insert the module but there was a place in the dash assembly where something was taped with something that looked like a black strip of material with the consistency of medical tape (for lack of a better way to describe) and the tape was broken (probably when I pulled the dash assembly out).

I would gladly post another picture to describe what I am talking about but I put the module back into the taped area and closed everything up today. I guess we will know if my A/C starts running uncontrollably or if I am sweating because it won't run at all!

And have since googled using the helpful info you provided to learn that my tape situation wasn't correct. I am hoping I can get it into the right receptacle without removing the whole dash again.

Post some more pics...in particular of the vent ducts within range of the length of wire connected to the sensor. Also try to get some with the camera close to the carpet looking up into that area.

Here's the removal diagram from the service manuals. It's a little hard to make out exactly where this is but I hope it helps you put it back where it's supposed to :)

This is interesting, I found this temperature sensor today while installed an RSNav kit.

It's located in a hole top left of your footwell - see where the knob for changing lights is on your trim, directly behind that is a hole going up (you'll have to look up to see it) that you put the sensor into and turn anti-clockwise to lock it into place.

Thanks to all for the help. The description from Mathews is right on as for the location. It isn’t an obvious receptacle meaning it isn’t shaped like the sensor housing but rather a slot in the bottom of the left vent where the sensor, when inserted and turned 90 degrees, is held fairly securely.

It is difficult to see without knowing where to look and even once I knew what it was I had to run the AC on full blast to see where air was flowing down out of the vent to find where the sensor belonged.

Thanks again and hopefully this post will help someone else in the future.
