Ok, yesterday while driving to work, I was VERY low on fuel, red light on, 30 miles to empty. It was super hot, 96 degrees outside. The car started to sputter, the EPC light came on then the car shut off. It won't restarted for about 5 mins, then restarted. I drove for another 2 mins then it shut down again. After about 5 mins it restarted and I made to the gas station. I filled up, checked my codes (scan tool in car ). cleared them, drove off with no problem. I drove 30 miles home, no problem. I put another 60 miles on the car,no problem. Then today as I made it to work, the car shut down again, EPC light on.
Check codes : 11010-Fuel pump, 6238 Fuel/rail/system pressure, P0087 Too low.
I made it to work but it wont restart so I'm guessing fuel pump. My question is does anyone know how to change the pump? I've done them in my 2004 A6, 2006 S4, and other cars. ALLDATA says I have to drop the tank, but I hope not. Anyone have a clue ?

Looking at the service manuals, looks like you have to remove your rear seat bench to access it. Which is probably better than dropping the tank I guess.

May have sucked in some dirt or caught air in the system. You should be ok. If not it’s real real easy to change it’s under the back seat bench. Thank god we don’t have to drop the tank.

So, after work it fired right up and I drove home- 30 min ride- cruising around 65-70 mph. Not a care in the world. So I’m starting to believe it’s something other than the fuel pump.
Crank position sensor ?

FWIW we just got air in our fuel lines on the SQ5 and the EPC light came on, car shut off and wouldn't restart. Turned the car all the way off and then it started right up. Took it to the dealership on Monday and they diagnosed the air in the lines and said there is a technical bulletin out for it and the warranty is covering the replacement, even with the tune. Unfortunately, no parts in stock, had a loaner since monday, waiting on parts from "Germany".
I would take it in if you can. It sounds very similar!
If it is a fuel rail issue, then there is a recall for it. Check NHTSA website. Just enter your vin and you should be able to see all the recall outstanding for your vehicle.

Arghhhhhhhhhhhh...!!!!!!!!
It did it again. 1st it was only when the car was LOW ( RED LIGHT ON ). 2X
Now it happen with a , little under a 1/2 tank, she called me and said " Why is the EPC light on ?", then the car shut off and wouldn't restart. It left my wife stranded and freaking out ( drama ...sigh ). She got the car started after a few mins, filled the tank, and no more problems.
Can the pump be on its way out? I always though, when the pump was bad- it just went out.

I just ran the codes again:
16903/P1250 Vapor Bubble
11010/P3043 Fuel Pump
11787/P167E Start/Stop system.

Start/stop system is nothing to worry about probably came in because the car didn’t start, vapor bubble could mean air in the line or something in the eVap system malfunctioning. Your fuel pump is probably going out since it says fuel pump. Clear all of them and drive it around see if they come back.

Fyi I have a new oem lpfp for the S6/7 that I never used. Not sure if it will work on the A7 but I can send you a pic/part number if needed.
Also from what I know the fuel pumps are accessed under the back seat. Very easy to change.

Thanks mate
It was very expensive at my local dealers, from 430$ to 560$. Ordered from newaudiparts.com 310$ delivered.
