I ran across this last Saturday. Warmed my heart thinking of the pints of Pentosin, idle control valves, window switches that would work intermittently, leaking racks, AC condensers, and slushbox issues after being diligent and changing the fluid every 30k.

That 5 cyl motor though. It was a game changer.

I had a few 5000's in high school, just one cs Quattro tho
I learned how to drive manual on a 5000
I'll look for some pictures , great cars with crazy options
Headphone jacks ,leather ski bag floor mats with Audi logos
And of course Quattro. And back in 1995/1996 I was buying 1985/1986 Audi's for 500$

This 1985 5000 S was my first Audi, bought it with my USFL bonus money (down payment not bought outright) Back then, quattro was a 5k upgrade, and the 5000 CS (turbo) was even more, I couldn't swing it... I loved that car. There were many frustrations, tears, and maxed out CCs to pay for service. And the Pentosin, oh the Pentosin… Memories...

Did you know Norb Kornak was a Chicagoland Porsche-Audi dealer back in the day?

I moved to the area from Seattle in 2009. I’m a neophyte to Chicagoland. It was interesting to see an Audi dealership on New York St., since that area isn’t really that demographic these days. All the new car dealers are on Ogden in Naperville now.

I remember when Ogden was nothing but cornfields west of 83, it blows me away when I'm in Chicago and see the development in all directions.
