MMI Raise goes up ~1.25” which would be helpful. Are you able to use Raise and Tire Service at the same time? I feel like there was a post somewhere that said you cannot. Sounds like a bad design if you can’t, but I’ve searched a lot and can’t find the old thread of an actual consensus if it works. Too nervous to mess with the air suspension out of service mode.

Thanks

Not sure if bad or recommanded, but that is how i actually do it (since my carlift is pretty high off the ground to start with). I always set the car in its highest mode and then hit the raise button, then lock the suspension in MMI and lift the car. Don't forget to unlock, lower and then switch to different drive mode, if you switch to different mode before you lowered it will throw errors.

I just did this yesterday. Raised and wheel change mode.

I had my car on a quickjack and needed to turn my wheels, so I turned the ignition on (not started) in order to move the steering wheel. and I got a suspension error on my dash.

When I was done working in the car and dropped it back down...there were no errors.

I'm guessing my error message only happened because I turned on the ignition.

Anyway, I'd say you're good to use both raise and wheel change mode.

I sometimes forget to change the mode before putting on the quickjack. After I drop the car looks like it's in 4x4 mode. :)

towing mode does that too.

So what do these different modes actually do?

raise...raises the car. good for snow, rain, etc. or getting onto ramps or up steep inclines without hitting the bottom of the front bumper.
tire service mode....prevents the car from auto adjusting the suspension when the car is in the air. since adjustment isn't possible, this would prevent excessive wear on the pump.

tow mode... I'm not 100% sure. some one else can chime in on that one.

I think the tire service mode makes it so that the car doesn't check for and try to adjust each corner to be level.. Without activating the tire service mode, the system will be trying to adjust each of the airbags in an effort to make the car's suspension level..

I think tow disables rear parking sensors and adjusts rear level to accommodate the trailer. Probably also adjust ESP and shifting characteristics. May only work when hitch electronics are connected.
