Yeah I know, another f-ing windshield thread. I read through a handful already that point to getting an OEM windshield if you have the HUD and ACC options which I do not have. I only have the automatic windshield wipers and no other bells or whistles. I am on vacation at the moment and caught a rock to the windshield some where between Phoenix and Flagstaff. Do I need to go OEM or will a Safelite type place work? I will have to check with insurance but I am pretty sure State Farm no longer pays for glass.

EDIT: I remember my agent saying they no longer cover glass but their website says they cover glass. I would have to figure out what type of claim it is and my out of pocket if I do claim. Safelite online is quoting $430 plus tax for out of pocket without a claim.

Thanks. Now to talk with insurance and see if it’s worth filing a claim.

I have had my windshield replaced twice. First time by Safelite for $500 (conveniently my deductible) and rain sensor worked. Second time by Autoglass Now for $300, but rain sensor doesn't work now. FWIW

I'm in the middle of a month long nightmare
Cracked windshield 2013 A7 prestige
Safe light Allstate etc all say it needs OEM glass
Claim was denied ,then approved
Ordered glass and paste 1300$ OEM dealer
And it has to be calibrated
Once hud and acc popped up from the VIN it was escalated to dealer.

Yep, calibration of ACC needed when windshield is replaced. All in all, my windshield replacement was $2K.

NO ACC or HUD on mine so in theory I should be okay getting a Safelite windshield.

For my S6 even though I don't have the driver's pack it still uses the same windshield as the one with the driver's pack. It has the housing on the windshield but no camera in it.

Safelite replaced it for me at their shop because they thought it had to be calibrated even though I told them I don't have the drivers assistance package. They said they only use Audi windshields ($1300). The one they put in had a huge scratch inside right in the middle so I walked right back in and complained. I setup a new appt. for them to come out and swap the glass at my place. The tech swapped in a new windshield but there is a bulge in the weather stripping at the top, scratch on the interior driver's pillar, small tear in the headliner by the windshield, mirror has a broken clip that hooks it to the window (fell off when I tried to adjust it). I called and complained and had Audi quote to fix it ($4,200) mostly due to the headliner. Safelite is paying Audi to fix it so I'm waiting for the parts to arrive now.

I'd recommend taking pictures of the interior/exterior before having anyone perform the glass install. I have shitty luck with anyone working on my cars...

Just left the dealer
OEM glass took an hour to replace
After all the calibration talk I decided to start up car and see what happened.
None of my options seem affected so far
Bill came to 1500.00$$
If it needs calibration I'll go back , all set for now it seems
