Front plate mount install method: rivets?

I have a factory S6 front plate mount I need to install, do these install with rivets?

My old B5 A4 appears to have rivets used to install. I just want to verify before doing the install this weeekend.

I used super-strong velcro *when* I had the front plate. I filled the holes and no way was going to drill holes again. But that was a long time ago, if you can get away with it ditch it of course...I keep the plate in the back and when it was brought up just apologize and never been hassled.
Your local cops might be different...but velcro is worth considering if you don't currently have holes. Never came loose under any speed, weather, or car wash.

I was thinking of the tow hook licence plate mount. I work at a Subarudealership and see them all the time on the WRX and STi that roll through the shop. I've seen one on a newer A6 locally as well as a few BMWs. They are like $25 on Amazon. J may look into one if I repair and repaint my bumper.

Odd part about our cars is that the front tow bolt is behind the pass-side trim next to the fog light. Never seen one installed on a C5...so not sure if it’d look ok odd w/o trim down there

No reference on how to attach in the C5 manual, but my B5 manual says it used bolts...so looks like it’s drill time :|

just grab some 4-5 inch lag bolts and anchor that sucker to the aluminum bar thats behind the bumper cover [>_<]

I was thinking of notching the spare fog light trim I have and seeing if it works

I think having the license plate on one side looks odd, it gives the car an unbalanced, non-symmetrical look.

Agreed, but I really hate front plates period, and the holes that go along with them. Illinois has had a bill in the works to eliminate front plates for like 8 years, it keeps getting shelved because politicians feel it's not a good idea to save people money by making only one plate. 😠
