Any of the FoCo folks recommend a body shop to put on my rieger bumper and paint my lowers? Ed Carroll's service guy said they use Import Auto Body off of Riverside.

Import auto body are a bunch of rip off artists. 2 yrs ago they gave me a quote for $1200 to paint my lowers. [down] Go over to Pedersen Auto Plaza over by Target ($700 to do my lowers). Talk to the manager, his name is JR. Tell him Jordan sent you. He will hook you up with a good price. They do quality work, and the paint matching is right on.

You know if they can do the bumper install? I'd do it myself, but it didn't come with instructions and they'll probably want to take it off to paint it (hopefully)

oh yeah, my bumper is off right now. If you go over there today, ask JR if you can go take a look at my car. My front caractere bumper just got repainted and is getting put back on today. The guy who works on my car there has done some custom work to it. I'd have to show you though, as it is very detailed.

We can set up a time and I can roll over and meet you there, kind of kill a few birds with one stone. You're putting on your bumper even though it's still crappy out? I'm worried I'll jack up the paint if I hit one of those clumps of ice from people's cars while driving. I already hit those with my stock bumper thanks to my eibach drop.

The bumper was already on before, just getting it repainted. It got damaged a couple weeks ago from some dump bitch. My car is not my daily driver, so I don't drive it when it's crappy outside. I also have Bridgestone S03's on it, so driving in ice and snow is a death wish. I won't really drive it for a month after it gets repainted so it doesn't chip easily being that the paint is still soft. I'm going to call them up after lunch today to see if it's done. If it is, I'll be heading over there today around 5pm. I'll post up this afternoon and let you know what the status is.

Peace
Jordan

I swung by there a little earlier. Katie at the front desk looked at me like it was an unusual request. She said JR was in a meeting and that I needed to drop back by before 3 to talk to him. I may or may not make it by then, but I left my info at the front desk. I'd be interested to see all the body stuff that's been done. My rieger front doesn't have the hole for the tow hook, I'd kind of like for them to put one in. I didn't realize Petersen was a dealer body shop so it's cool that they're more inexpensive than Import. I may just rock the paint on the sides and back and have them do the bumper but hold off on installing it for a while. I can always put the stock door guards on and let the s4 blades cure. Thanks for the info man and I'll look for the update.

Katie is a dumb whore, I have never said a single word to her. I talked to JR today. I guess my car won't be done till the end of the week because their paint booth machine pump broke down. I told JR about your situation, and he is more than willing to help you out. It's prolly best to have me there as well when you talk to him. I used to work side-by-side with JR at a body shop 10 years ago, so it's easy for me to bargain with him. They can easily fab something for the tow hook. I'll let you know on Friday if I'll be heading down there after work.

Well, the spray booth pump motor has not come in yet.......so they cannot paint still. It should arrive today, so I should be able to go pick my car up early to mid next week. I'll let you know when, so you can meet me down there if you want.

AutoCollision Specialist in Loveland and Greely. They are the best in the area. Go talk to Mike in there, he should be at either shop. They are great at paint matching and have some of the highest quality work. I really recommend them.

Do they have loaner cars? Cause dropping off the car and picking it up could be annoying being that it's outside of Fort Collins.

I'm going to roll down there tomorrow and see what's up. Their web page says they have rentals. I'll price everything (bumper install/paint, painted lowers/door blades) and get back to everyone.

Went down to Auto Collision Specialists in Loveland. Dude named Jon did the estimate and really knew what I wanted before I had to tell him. They're going to do the lowers/blades' paint and paint and install the Rieger bumper with a little fab work for the tow hook and whatever else to get it to fit properly. Quote was $1077 with removal for paint. I'm going with it tomorrow a.m. and it should be ready no later than Thursday, maybe even Wed.
CO AVANT, they have a Hertz rental right at the shop.

I think it sounds cheap for bumper fitment, paint and installation as well as bumpers. It'll all have a lifetime warranty. They have a good track record so we'll see.

Any idea for just lowers and such, not a new bumper and etc?

Not sure since he ran it all through at once. You can probably call and ask for Jon. He ran all my stuff through their computer and he'd know what to put in. Tell 'em I sent you (Mike with the 2003 Avant) and he might even have it in front of him.

I just went to SVE (broomfield) for an estimate last week to get my lowers painted. They wanted $1751 for just the lowers, and an extra $400+ to touch up my front bumper. Needless to say i am looking for another place to get my paintwork done.

I got all my original lowers painted from Pedersen in Fort Collins for $7-800. This included taking off the front bumper. Definitely try somewhere else.

If anyone is still paying attention to this thread, here's the update:
$1275 Why so high do you ask? Because the fricking Rieger bumper is more like a cover than a bumper and they have to transfer the reinforcement bar that's platic welded to the original bumper to prevent it from being weak and looking like a backyard ricer. I decided to not use the Rieger fog cover things, because they're not all that nice and don't have a good way to affix them and have access to the fogs if I have to change a bulb.
Plus, to paint the rear lower bumper, the entrie thing has to come off and that involves ripping apart the inside of the back (on the Avant) to get to 4 bolts. Plus a few bits of fabrication to make the sides of the Rieger to fit. Probably will be done tomorrow night. They've been really good about calling me before they do anything. We'll see how it all comes out in the wash.

Good luck with everything. Just so you know, I had to get custom brackets and reinforcement bars installed to get my caractere front to stay on.

Im glad to see you are using autocollison. I worked for them a little bit, odd jobs. And I know the guy that owns the place, Mike. John is also a good guy and he knows his shit. Im excited you are giving him your business and you will not be disapointed at all. Color matched perfect on my car.

Hope so, it's been an interesting trip. The Rieger is a total pain in the ass. Hopefully it'll all be done this evening. It isn't going to look like the sales brochure because of the way they make the side cutouts now. I'm interested to see how it turns out. I'm getting the grille parts painted the same color as the S4 grille so hopefully that turns out nice. The whole idea is that it looks like it came from Audi like that, so we'll see. I'm going to try to make it to the GTG tomorrow, but I have a job interview that isn't supposed to get out until 1pm.

Good that you finally got the goods installed. Fitment seems really good! But Im gonna go ahead and say it, the Reiger front (most aftermarket fronts for that matter but the reiger especially) needs sideskirts. While the fitment looks solid the front end w/ out side skirts looks like the car was driven over a parking stopper then backed up so the front end is coming off. Thats just my $.02 though, its for that very reason that I dont want to go w/ an aftermarket front. CO is way too rough a place for a snow plow front end, if ya know what I mean. Peace
