I'm planning on using four ramps to do oil changes. Do ramps provide enough clearance? What do you do? Of course a proper car lift is out of the budget.

Ramps for the front should be sufficient. I have Rhino Ramps and they provide more than enough clearance, imho. Additionally, since the oil drain plug faces the rear, I would be inclined to think rear-angled would help drain more old oil out.
If it were Tiptronic fluid change, I'd agree with 4 ramps (still unsure how you'd get there though) or jackstands.

These ones look good and provide 7" lift...

I just reach under the car and undo the plug? If it’s not lowered you have plenty of room

Does the oil drain out well enough with just the front end ramped up? I thought the car had to be level to drain the oil out completely.
If it does need to be level, I wonder if the car has enough clearance for the ramp to fit between the front and back wheel.
I would have to back my car up to my level garage because the driveway is sloped.

Or can they be reached from the top?

I do mine from the top too and drop it into a thick plastic bag.
Ramps are on sale at Napa this month, the Sceptre ones work fine and give enough height. 51.99 unless you can score something cheaper.

Plastic bag!!!! That’s a great idea. I’ve just been letting it dump and hoped I caught most of it haha

i have 4 rhino ramps .. they go great under all 4 wheels of the van and i just drive up and can do undercarriage work no problem .
they wont go under the back wheels of my b7 . Not nearly enough clearance.

Two ramps up front work great for me. Socket with extension to initially loosen the filter from below, then I unscrew it and remove it from above. I’m not aware of any way to get the car on four ramps due to lack of rear clearance. I always use wheel chocks and jack stands too, just in case.

that will definitely work , but i have wondered the effects of jacking one side at a time to get the back end up with the front so far off the ground. I think last time i did that i put i piece of 2 by 8 under the rear diff and jacked the whole back .... Not sure about this method though as i fear a great cracking sound coming from the rear diff.

x2. I dont even remove my skid plate to do oil change.
The '' filter housing oil drain tool'' is the way to go to not spill oil on the skid/floor.

Agree 100%. I got mine on Ebay for less than $20. It’s a great tool.

The plastic bag works and i've also cut a milk container in half and get it under the filter to catch the oil as I remove the filter and it works great. No spills anywhere.

you might not believe me but my car had no bellypan, I can easily remove oil pan bolt and oil filter without any lift or jack. I have enough clearance to poke my face under the car feeling extremely safe.

Washer fluid bottles work great for this too. Cut it in half but leave a long section that goes between the engine and filter housing to act as a shield.
You can usually snake the bottle in there if you move your coolant reservoir out of the way.
