I had a P0299 code for about a week or two so I replaced the diverter valve this past Saturday. I had not yet done this swap in my 6 years of owning this car and to my surprise, I found the old diaphragm version and it had a tear in it. I installed the pierberg piston style valve. Hooked up vagcom, cleared the code and all is well. Yesterday I notice when I’m driving from a stop and at low speeds, I let off the gas and can hear a whirling sound briefly from what I would assume the turbo. I can’t take a video of the sound as it is not loud enough but if I’m on a quiet road, I can hear it. Hooked up vagcom and got this code: P0033. Any ideas?

Make sure you plugged the electrical connector for the DV back in or make sure the connector isn’t broken.

Do the opposite of what joepickems tells you. And never lend him any money.

Is the connector common for this particular code? I can’t find support on Ross tech for the code

You said you just replaced the DV, right? Now you have an open circuit code. The DV is electric so put the 2 together. New DV, open circuit, check the connection. The clips can break or maybe it didn’t click in when you put it back.

Check your work.

Well you were right, I looked today and sure enough I forgot to plug that connector back in. Smh.. and the fluttering noise from the turbo is now gone. Thank you for your help
