Hi,
I just got my 2018 Q5 Progressive with 6000 km on it. when I try to come to a full stop it shudders severely. I took it to the dealer and he mentioned that I need to change all the rotors because they have rust on them?!! the car is brand new and with 6000 km I don't believe I need to change the rotors... I tried it it manual, same issue. was wondering if anyone knows the reason and have any solution that can help me? thanks!

Wow this is sad to hear on such a low mileage car. Did the dealer say that this is the only way to fix it? If so you may try another dealer and/or an independent shop that specializes in Audi and get second/third... opinion
These issues are almost impossible to diagnose properly over the internet as you need to hear/feel it in the car.

Hi, I have a 2018 RS5 with 5,000 miles. They need to replace the rotors and pads due to shuddering. The root cause was... because I put it up for 3-months without driving it, causing the rotors to distort. They will replace them as a courtesy. They say this is common. I asked this question. If I buy an Audi that's been sitting on the lot for 2-3 months, are you saying that it most likely will need the rotors replaced? Yup. This is my first Audi. I own Porsche, AMG, Muscle cars, and have owned many cars put away for the winter. Never have I heard this as a reason for a rotor problem. If this is what I can expect from owning an Audi, this will be one and done. I will post in the RS5 section as well. Anyone else here of this as a reason for rotor/pad failure?

This sounds super strange to me! I’d guess they didn’t give you the detailed reason why the car sitting around distorts the rotors?

They did not... they said they would write up as that being officially the reason when they replace the rotors. Until then... I had never heard of such a thing. Even when in storage, I still had it detailed, windows tinted, badging blacked out. So it still got moved into the shop for work.

I see, well so far I’ve been around Audis for 15 years (owned an RS6) and this doesn’t make any sense to me and I doubt that Audi developed it :-) recently. I’d be very interested to hear a technical explanation of the root cause (which the dealer should provide btw) so please share it if you get it.

Absolutely. They confirmed there are problems with the rotors parts are on order. This my first Audi. I've been around cars my whole life. That reason was not one I would even remotely engage. They said they would put it in writing... let's see. I too would love to see the technical reasoning behind the statement.

my wife and I own 4 cars total. Consequently, i have at least one of them sit for months on end. Yea, the brakes do all kinds of crazy things, but doesnt take many miles to clear up. Never heard of this before lol
