Hey guys, so my windshield is shattered. It is 240 to replace. Or $50 at the junkyard. My problem is all the b7's out there are cracked or broken as well. There is a ton of b'6s and a6's with clean windshields.
I was just wondering if anyone knows of any of those will fit on a b7? I know it's a long shot but thought I'd ask before shelling out $200+ bucks.

B6s fit they just don’t have rain sensor so if you don’t care about that then your good.

While it’s technically possible to purchase a used windshield, and have it fitted, you need to look at the practicalities of doing so.
Cost of:
Purchase of windshield from junkyard.
Removal of windshield from donor car (most junkers won’t get involved in this process).
Fitting hardware (trim is often destroyed during windshield removal).
Fitting to your car.
It all adds up.
The bonded windshield on modern cars is structural, and an integral part of your car’s passive safety. A used screen can crack during removal, and of course, the junker would still want payment. So would the screen fitter!
I would just go with a brand new screen. You should have screen cover in your insurance anyway, which would probably cost you anywhere between $75 - $200 of your own money to take advantage of.
A poorly-installed screen can be a source of annoying creaks, as well as leaks. It can happen with a new screen, but at least you’ll be covered by some sort of warranty. But a used one??

Installing a bonded windshield is not a DIY job, and is best left to the experts.

Funny thing is my timing belt snapped shortly after i posted that. Thankfully i was only just about moving out of parking lot and still at second gear so i guess I'll just be needing the belt alone

The 2.0T is an interference engine, like most others.
You will have bent / broken valves, if you’re lucky. Worse case scenario is messed up piston crowns and cylinder head, if a valve head broke off, and got hammered between the piston and cylinder head.

Do you know the easiest way to check and confirm so i probably won't have to bother ordering parts and rather sell and get another car?

If I may ask...
...is this car being used in Nigeria?
