I have a 2017 RS7 and noticed a minor knocking sound when driving at slow speeds from the rear passanger tire area. Not sure if its one of those noises that's always been there or something new. Is some noise standard from the ball joints or tie rods etc? Would'nt think any of those things would have gone bad this soon.

Nope, no noise is standard. Especially on an RS7. Except maybe exhaust noise. :)
Have everything checked...upper shock mount, all control arms, sway bar links etc. Any competent dealer should be able to find the source of the noise.

does the repetition of the knocking change with speed? or is it only when hitting bumps?

See this thread: https://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/637598-Rear-suspension-noise

It was kind of highjacked by people talking about the front suspension but has some info. I am having what could possibly be the same issue. Are you under warranty still? If you are and the dealer fixes it, please respond back here with the fix. I have already replaced the rear sway bar and am about to do the strut mounts.

Hmm read some other threads and seems its most likley a bad bushing or damper
