Having difficulty removing the RS7 front brakes center pin to remove my pads. Tried smacking the nut half way screwed in and also using a punch. Tried to spray some solution to the sides but still not budging. Any tips would be appreciated .

You don't remove the pin. Disconnect the caliper from it's hanger and slide it off the rotor as 1 piece.

You can use zip ties to hang it from the upper control arm so you don't stretch brake lines, and it makes it easier to work with.

The pin is designed for easy swapping out the pads without removing the caliper. Strange it refusses to come loose (maybe there is a stoppin in it?).

It's not a floating caliper tho that slides on the pin like most of the A model Audi. It's a fixed caliper with pistons on both sides. Separating and reassembling the sides is going to be a PITA.

ive changed pads on my RS before. they definatly come out by removing the pin and sliding the pads out the top. the caliper does not need to be removed for pad changes. but yes, compressing the pistons after removing the pads requires a special tool or a little inginuity.

as for removing the pin. use a little more lubricant/penetrator and elbow grease. guessing the weather in ontario isn't the best for corrosion. no reason why a punch a a few whacks of a hammer shoudlnt get it out.

Unlike the S6/S7 break pads this center bolt /pin needs to be removed for the pads to come out. Got in touch my mechanic friend and told me to try using a blow torch to try loosen it so will try that later.

Maybe spray a bit of penetrating oil on the pin section that passes through the caliper. Use a small rag and a small vice grip to wiggle the rust loose a bit. If you don't care about marring the pin you can put the vice grip directly on it.

i know brakes get hot during use, but i would avoid using direct heat/flame as much as possible. id be concerned with damaging the caliper seals, or at very least, the paint.

Already dinged my caliper [emoji51] ... the previous owner didn’t care much for rust prevention so I’m having to deal with it now. Tried the penetrating oil helped for the two small pins but the big bolt just won’t budge probably cause of rust around the bolt.

Hit it with a torch and rattle loose with an air hammer

The best penetrating oil is Kroil. Throwing that out there in case you want to try something else.

I had the same issue with a set of Porsche Cayenne Brembos. Eventually the punch worked for me. But if nothing is working for you it may be time to try to just drill it out and replace with a new pin using some heat resistant anti-seize in the process.

Thanks all for all the tips. Tried blow torch still doesn’t budge. I notice that the manual says renew the center pin when changing break pads.
After smacking the punch, torching the pin, applying penetration oil and scraping the rust/brake dust deposits I managed to get a tiny gap to sip in more penetration oil. Had to go back and forth and not easy cause I only had about 3 inches to swing the hammer. Anyways managed to get my pads swapped over to ebc redstuff now.
