My front rotors are worn so I guess it’s time to replace them, I was thinking of drilled / slotted (for the look) and ceramic pads (less dust)

What do you recommend guys ?
Anyone got drilled / slotted disks with ceramic pads ?

Opinions, options, links ?

Yes! And I love them. Huge difference over stock and almost zero dust.

Imo from personal experience is that ceramic pads do not [race] well as semi metallic do. I had ceramic's [wrench] when I purchased the avant. The braking sucked [down]. I [wrench] some Hawk HPS when I had stock calipers in the front. After the 500 mile break in. The stopping [race] was like nite & day. Then 1000 mile later I upgraded[wrench] some 8 pot RS4 calipers. I then order some new Hawk HPS for it. The price was steep. But I know it was worth it. After the 500 mile break in again. These things will throw you thru the windshield if your not belted in. Some will say that HPS are grabby & such. & they like the linear fell of ceramic [rolleyes]. Me. Im a [drive]er. I [drive] the [poop] out of my car. I dont mind slightly more brake dust then the ceramics. I LOVE the stopping power they provide. This brake set up has gotten me out of a few jambs when it comes to [race] braking. Drilled & slotted rotors has its draw backs. Yes they do [o_o] nice. But they also tend to pulsate the pedal imo. I would just stick with regular [up] set of quality rotors. None of that cheap E-Bay [poop]. This is 1 department you dont want to skip on.

@MG

What kit front and back with pads you recommend ? Link ?

I Have Rotiform TMB wheels and drilled slotted will look nice.

@EV I don’t race, I’ve been speeding ticket free for the past 6 years! [emoji41]

Thanks guys.

Ceramics are good for a daily-use vehicle where low brake dust is desired. Of the ceramic options available some are more 'sporty' than others. If the main intention for the swap/mod is performance there are much better pad types.

Brake Performance, they've been around for years and function well and they're cheap. Been on them for about 3k miles.

That is exactly my use case.
Driving around town with two kids in the car.
Less dust and the looks.

I love Akebono Ceramics. Had them on my b6, have them on my b7 and put them on the wife's Q5. I recently pulled off my winter wheels and in the 4 months they were installed there was barely any dust. And thats commuting 30mi/day in stop and go.

The pedal feel is different, I personally prefer the lack of initial bite, but plenty of people don't.

As far as rotors, can't really go wrong with Centric. I'd go for their Centric Premium line, but if you want drilled or slotted you'll need to step up to their Stoptech line.
